I live in a blue state. Next year I will be required to get a permit from the state of Washington to exercise my 2nd amendment right to purchase a firearm. We are already prohibited from purchasing the tools required to compete in a variety of competitions like High Power (AR lowers), IPSC and IPDA (hicap mags) and limited in Bullseye (can't buy Pardini or any other brand where the mag is in front of the trigger). New law making it impossible for small firearms dealers to financially comply with are already resulting in LGS closures (expensive customer surveillance systems and storage of data collected). The requirement to purchase liability insurance on our firearms is back before the state houses of government. No insurance company offers that insurance but we can deposit something like 25000 bucks in an escrow account that will be owned by the state.
I have never seen the NRA in Washington State battling these unconstitutional state laws. Everything else the NRA claims to be their "mission" is irrelevant when we are no longer are allowed or can no longer afford to own firearms. Every dime they get should be spent on court battles. Nothing else matters.
Given the above, there is no scale that can represent my view of the NRA's performance. To me it looks like they are actively involved in the effort to disarm the American public as evidenced by there absence or lack of laser like focus on the one thing that can prevent their demise.
