22 ARC brass question

first time reloading Virgin Peterson brass, using new Hornady SB dies.
First 4 cases came out with a small bulge at the base of the shoulder, tried and they will not Chamber.
What could be the cause? adjusted the dies according to Instructions
Not trying any Shoulder bump

Why would you size new brass? Did you lube inside the neck? I just lube neck with graphite, mandrel, chamfer, seat.

Reloading die instructions usually suck. Back your die off at least a full revolution or more. On new brass all you want to do is run the expander through the neck to make sure it is round.

I had some new 300wsm brass that bolt dropped stiff on that I had to bump the shoulders back on, I assume nothing.

It can happen but it's rare. There's actually an overlap on some cartridges between max cartridge and minimum chamber saami dimensions for both.

I know but like I said I assume nothing, anymore I follow speedys rule " everything is broken"

Oh, new cases can have a lot of neck tension from neck diameter and insufficient surface lubricity.

Cases can collapse similar to this in my 223 ai if for some reason there is excess neck tension.

Same solution though.

If it did that seating bullets, again back the die out 1 or 2 turns. Adjust your seating depth by moving the seating stem, not the die.

You are most likely engaging the crimp at end of stroke because die is not set up properly. This will grab the neck before ram is done pushing bullet in causing you to smash case. You should have led with this info first not sb die.
