Forester FLS die question

I just got done at the range with some 0-x brass, which is now 1-x.

Now I dont want to shoulder bump the brass, so I adjusted the die up.

Here is my problem, no matter how much I adjust the die up, im still getting the shoulder bumped by about .002.

So I adjusted the die way up, roughly .090", and what happened is that I got a little bulge at the base of the neck/shoulder transistion. Now I know that is happening cause part of the case neck is trying to fill the shoulder area in the die because it was not seating all the way down onto the case.

Why even adjusted up am I getting shoulder bump with the FLS die? Am I trying to accomplish something that the die wont do?

Just one of these head scratchers that I know Im overlooking something simple or something else.

check the neck size on a fired case. now a sized case the bulge should be the same size as the fired case if they are same the dies are fine .u can just neck size with full length die Forester will also hone for neck size i have several that way . Good Shooting Larry

If the bulge is just above the neck shoulder area ,that is normal as you are not sizing the neck all the way.It is still at the fired size in the area at that junction and wont hurt a thing.I wish I could draw you a picture then it would be easy to see.

Jon, what you said makes perfect sense and is what is happening to my cases.

Though what I am still puzzled with is that no matter what I do with the die it bumps my shoulder back to around .002 more than I want. Even after adjustment that number stays the same. Any thoughts?

Ok but if I go that much further aren't I going to have a problem of the die not even sizing the neck?

I haven't gone that far but it keeps bumping the shoulder .002 from the desired length I'm looking for which gives me about .001 of headspace.

Did you try moving the die 1/4 turn up .If you don't listen nobody can help. I'm not trying to be smart only trying to help. Good Shooting Larry

Ok let me explain with more detail for boisblancboy.
Step one fire form brass-base to shoulder (with sinclare tool) 1.60 inches
Step two all brass deprimed and cleaned with SS media.
Step three lube with one shot.
Step four run thru press, base to shoulder now 1.55
Step five adjust die away from shoe on forester press up to one full turn in small increments base to shoulder measurement does not change.

I want the fired brass to fit chamber tighter(head space) but unable to keep fired brass a bit closer to chamber deminsions.
Any ideas ?? is it possible we have over annealed the brass and it always wants to crush the shoulder down a bit.
Thanks
