7mm SAUM, 34in barrel

You'll need to test a few different powders.
I'd be more concerned about, the most accurate powder.
You can dial your turret for drop with a slower load.
You can't dial out an inaccurate one.
RL 23 was the most accurate with a 180g and was right up there for speed.
For me, the 180g was more accurate than the 184g
7 saum imp.

34 inch barrel? Doesn't sound like a hunting rig...which more than likely means F-Class. If the idea is to "horsepower" your way through the wind with velocity, I'd advise against it and take the advice above. RL23 will produce good velocity, but also excellent accuracy. 184s in this application tune in well from 2890 through to around 2940fps. Beyond that, you're probably hitting the brass hard. VV powders are also worth a look - N165 is probably the coolest burning but the double based powders will offer velocity. H4831sc and H4350 are also good options for accuracy.

Lot’s of good advice. FYI, this info is for F Class. Currently using H4831sc in ADG brass with Berger 180 grain. Have done load testing with great results, final test 5 - 5 shot groups at 100 yds (with cool down after each group). Velocity just under 3000 fps (34 inch barrel helps), all five groups sub caliber groups.

Just looking for new powder for Berger 184 hybrid bullets. Thanks for the advice, appreciate feedback.

I found that the faster powders like 4831 gave good velocity and accuracy with Berger 180's out of a 32 inch barrel but slower powders like H1000 gave the same velocity and accuracy without the snappy report of the faster burning powders. More pleasurable to shoot. I've got a couple of nodes I like at 2840 and 2920. I can run it a lot faster but I don't see the need.

I got almost 3000 fps with 184s and N560 in a 30-inch 284. Accuracy was stellar as well. That or N565 should be at or near the top on velocity. My only issue with them was they burn HOT and not good candidates for high rate of fire match shooting.

I concur.

In F class I can understand why H4831 or R165 are popular.

In the hunting guns I ran H1000 and got 2960fps out of 26" barrels with 180s.
H1000 was my favourite powder but we can no longer get it in the UK..
Its not REACH compliant..
Hodgdon extreme powder would be silly money now..
The odd tubs come up for sell and folk ask for too much money for it..

N165 is a very popular for f class rifles.
300wsm,7mm 270 and the 7mm saums..
Not sure on the PRCW variants or PRC's.
N165 is temp sensitive but stable..
