Guys, I am getting ready to do a re barrel on my wife's 6.5x47. Im wondering what seems to be the most popular finished length on your barrels?

Thanks for your replies.

I tend to use as much of the blank as possible. I consider a 25" barrel to be as short as I will go, with 27"-29" preferred. An odd number barrel length will be faster and shoot better...

A HV contour (or fatter) becomes a truck axle though. I now prefer my muzzle OD to be .820" to .875".

28-30"
I liked 34 inch, but wouldnt fit into the longest Pelican gun case with the brake on
I hated cutting those extra 4 inches off lol
Dang it shot good like that

I used to be a 26in minimum on everything type person but then I started using suppressors on everything and my barrels have gotten shorter and shorter. With no brake or suppressor I like 24's but all my builds the last five years have been 22in or shorter.

With the 6.5x47 not having a very big case capacity and not shooting a truck load of powder I don't know that a lot is gained or lost with a shorter or longer barrel so I'd go with a length that best suits the type of use it will be used for. If no brake or suppressor will be used and this is a hunting rifle I'd probably go 22-24. If it'll be a bench gun then I'd go longer. If you plan on screwing a can on the end I would be looking for 18-22 depending on the length of the suppressor I was using.

The longest finished I've ran was 28". As far as bolt guns now they range from 27" to 24".

For me 24" is about the perfect blend from target to hunting...weight/excursion dimensions, optimal velocity, burn etc. Two of my go to rifles are now in 24.

My longest doesn't see much hard field use, it is a heavy setup.

Can't run cans in my horrid state, but if I were, I would opt a teeny bit shorter.

Really depends on what you need the rilfe to do for ya.
