Tack Driver 6

An early apology to whoever shoots beside me. It’s going to be a little loud this year. I’m hoping for wind.

Dave.
I have to ask, are you allowed to use a muzzle break in the comp?
Virtually no competitions in OZ allow muzzle breaks due to the blast/noise factor effecting other shooters on the line.
A 300WSM with a break would be truly a barking beast…!
Some ranges do not allow them at any time and others require “blast shields” between benches when in use for non competion activity such as sighting in and testing loads.
Those rifles fitted with a muzzle break would be hunting style and not bench rest, F Open or Target Rifle guns.

I went up into the mountains and tested a 6.5x47 against a 6ppc. The head wind became more and more crazy as the minutes clicked by. Bullets poi left right left right. Couldn't control anything.
The only thing i came away with was the ppc was so much easier to shoot. So I'm pressing the "easy button" see y'all Friday.

Well, I made the trip across the country a little more quickly than I usually do. Only took me five days to get here (Palm Bay, Fla.) I'll rest up for a couple of days, while doing some visualization exercises (this is where I imagine pulling the trigger and having the bullet land exactly where I intended. Some people may refer to it as fantasizing). I'll spend some time scratching an "X" on the base of the score bullets and a .0 on the base of the group bullets, before I load them. There are those who regard this as superstitious nonsense. While it may be true that it has never me helped yet, there can always be a first time.
Anyway, after a couple of days of rest, it's a relatively short trip (6hr?) to Orangeburg. I should be well rested and in a positive frame of mind. I hope it's not as humid there as it is here in Fla. WH

What is the course of fire there are multiple targets fired at various ranges and please tell how many score targets versus how many group targets I'm sure it's posted somewhere in this lengthy thread, but please refresh my memory. Thank you roger

How many targets per day I'm trying to get an idea of how many rounds would be necessary for the entire event

Hopefully the above link will take you to the first one which has the rules and all. I don't believe anything has changed, but Jim can correct me if I'm wrong.

Tom

I plan on loading at the match. To that end, I have put together a very rudimentary loading kit. About like what one of very limited means would have taken to a match in the 1970's. A Wilson sizer and seater, a B-Square arbor press, RCBS primer seater, and a Bonanza BR powder measure. Also, some c-clamps for holding things down. I included a Leeper primer pocket cleaner (this looks a lot like a piece of brass, squashed flat and filed to fit the pocket) and a loading block (formerly a box for 250gr 45 cal lead bullets). Powder, primers, and bullets round out the kit. I'm ready. WH

Safe travels to all the competitors as many begin their journeys tomorrow to get here by Wednesday afternoon. I hope everyone has a safe trip down and is ready to have some fun and lots of laughs for sure and possibly some great food! See you all Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. If you are shooting the fun match on Thursday morning, make sure you are there by 7:30 am at the latest as that’s when bench drawing will start and commence fire at 8 am!
