I haven't personally run into the donut issue but from what I understand is that donuts form from brass flow during firing. I may be wrong but that is my understanding from reading about it.

Brass has to flow somewhere..otherwise id never have to trim my brass.....how nice that would be..lol
They bring the Donut whenever you neck up brass and it will happen eventually.

have you tried preemptive neck turning to the top of the shoulder right below the neck?

Yep..it helps for sure..but just seat above the donut and move on.....
I quit neck turning as I could not shoot the difference.

Donuts also form when expanding Lapua brass out for the PRCW. You can use a pin gage that barely fits into the expanded case to feel the donut after expanding. Pin gage will stop at the shoulder junction due to the donut.

That's good to know, i'll make sure to give him some fired brass and my die after I get my barrel back from him.

A real shame that they are not making the dedicated cases year around…
After necking up 300pcs of Lapua 6.5PRC, {which need a skim neck turn to just touch into the shoulder to help with any future donuts} I was able to snap up some of ADG’s dedicated 7-6.5 brass that are ready to load and go…
Apparently they will even work in a “Neck Turn” chamber without neck turning…
At least that info was reported for Manson’s reamer.
Waiting to see if Peterson will pick up the task as I like and use their brass for my other comp rifles.
