7-65PRC (7PRCW) - Neck up from 6.5PRC

I ended up getting the 21st century mandrel body and a .284 mandrel.

For seating/sizing, I purchased the Forster Bushing/Micrometer-Seating set for 7PRCW. I appreciate the tips, I don't even know what a donut is (short of just reading a few lines about it, nothing definitive), so I guess i'll travel down that road once the donut possibly presents itself.

Still have to do research about load development and will peruse this forum. Do you have a go to charge worth trying as part of my testing?
I had the forster die set and I couldn't get the correct shoulder bump out of it. It needed about .006 shaved off of the bottom. I went with the whidden bushing die set. They are comparable in price or you can go with a Micron or SAC dies they are good but a little more expensive. Cortina also makes one that is suppose to be pretty good as well.

Oh man thats unfortunate. I paid $270 for the seater/sizing set shipped, I believe the Whidden just for the sizing/bushing die is around $350, hopefully i'll be able to get the bump i'm wanting with this Forster set! If I can't bump it right i'll be sure to call Forster up

Thank you for correcting me..I see that they do make one for the 7-6.5PRC
When I started playing this game hardly anyone made anything for the 7-6.5PRCW
We all had to get creative......glad its gotten better.

I would be curious of the size it sizes to at the case head. Even whiddens dies have two different versions (don’t ask how I know) one will leave you with clickers and one doesn’t. Whidden said there was a difference in his 7-6.5 prc and the 7-6.6 prcw dies. I think one sizes to .535 and the other to .532 if I’m not mistaken. If the Forster dies don’t size small enough you’re gonna deal with clickers. If that don’t that would be awesome. More options is a great thing. Just something to check on.

if I remember correctly the ID at the base of my forester die was .528. I didn't have any clickers and I over pressured a few times during my learning curve while using the forester die.

If you do have an issue where you need more shoulder bump with the forester die the guy that cuts my barrels said he could shave off however much was needed on his lathe. Also, any machine shop can do it as well.

I'll let you folks know once I get some resized and used. Hoping for the best.

Does Omar do your barrels?

Either way, if i'm having issues, maybe I can reach out to you and use your guy to modify my die. Much appreciated!

I built a hunting rig in 7PRCW a year ago. I sent a new 7mm blank Wilson seating die to my smith and he used the same reamer to ream out my die. I then ordered a sizing die from Cortina. Everything works perfectly as should.

Wilson will now make a 7PRCW seating die for you, I have ordered one and though I did not have a fired case to send they made it to “Spec” and if it is a bit tight once everything is rolling they said that they will hone it out to a fired case for no charge aside from shipping.

That's good to know, i'll make sure to give him some fired brass and my die after I get my barrel back from him.

Hornady made/supplied the dies for the 7-6.5PRC I used for all the load data testing. There was no issues with the Hornady dies.

Also Hornady supplied the brass for the load test data. I had to use Hornady brass because they wanted the lot number of the brass for calibration purposes to eliminate as many variables as possible from the pressure test data.

Yes I have ADG brass as well. If your running the loads at normal pressures and not being silly with it.... there is nothing wrong with the Hornady brass.

Attached is all the load data that I loaded ammo for the pressure testing. Again the pressure test barrel was a 32" finish length and 5R rifling. 1-8.25 twist.

Got my 21st century .282 mandrel in, as someone new to wildcat and necking up, i've attached some pictures of my first two pieces of brass, that hopefully I can get some sort of feedback short of actually seeing the brass in person. I used alcohol/lanolin home made mix on the mandrell and inside the neck. thanks

I don't think I see any donut formation but then again I don't know what the heck i'm really looking for.

I haven't personally run into the donut issue but from what I understand is that donuts form from brass flow during firing. I may be wrong but that is my understanding from reading about it.
