Bear creek bolt action AR

Got my AR10 version on Saturday. Got it put together with a 26" 260 barrel and quad rail I had already. I'll hopefully get to shoot it this weekend. A few observations so far:

The sleeve they include is .750". It would be nice if they offered more sizes. My barrel is .875"
I had to grind the plug at the rear of the reciever a little. I could not get the rear pin in (Aero M5 lower)
The BCG has a turning fork sound when cycling and dry firing. I'm hoping to come up with a solution for that.

Please keep us ( well at least me lol ) updated ! Just got my first AR10 lower and I'm already looking at the bolt upper

Uintah has my vote. Love the rifle and accuracy is amazing. Slapped an IDF sling on and it's nice to carry too. Whatta Hobby!

Uintah is fine for what it is but from what I know the barrels are proprietary as are the bolts. The novelty of the BCA was to be able to use the stuff many of us have laying around and its a fraction of the price. If I was thinking of spending Uintah money I'd just get an origin or a RPR - Both with a wide selection of barrels.

I'm on leave for the next 2 weeks so I'll see if I can get some time behind it. Still need to source a .875 gas block to cover the port. I wish BCA would give you an option to choose the size sleeve you need

I don’t have any idea what it takes to contain the pressure but it seems like you could repurpose something. Maybe an 875 bearing sleeve of some sort in brass?

They will take any standard bolt. One barrel i used is a 24" 223 match barrel. I had no issues extracting with any of the ammunition I tried. The other barrel is a 300blk and it did just fine supersonic and supressed subsonic. No extraction or feed issues.

It does feel weird, the bolt handle lift is very short. And the bolt can be made to bind if you hang on real hard during the bolt cycle. Need to let it kinda float in your hand. Best way to describe it. I am making it sound way worse than it is.

I will say it has gotten smoother as more rounds have been fired.

The other option I was thinking is just using a bca side charger and manually cycling it. Do you think the functionality of this is an improvement over that or is this just a bit of a novelty.

I have a bolt action upper in 223, it feeds and ejects fine. I find that if I grab the bolt like I would with any other bolt action it binds up but if I place the palm of my hand on the bolt knob ( rather than grabbing the bolt ) and apply slight pressure it functions fine. It did take some getting used to. They do not work with all after market AR triggers. I have no issue with accuracy. As I recall I paid $218 for the whole upper so I didn't expect much. I had looked at Uintah but they were more than I wanted to spend

I purchased it as an inexpensive supressor host. I dont need to do any gas system tuning or adjustable gas blocks , or really anything. It is cheaper than almost all bolt actions and is modular. That is why I bought it.
