SAVAGE Trigger

That Savage trigger is a monkey motion piece of design work. Is Jard the best, or only replacement?

Depends on what the rifle is to be used for. For competition, I also like the RB Sav II. The Jard is a “total replacement” trigger, suitable for Hunting Rifles, maybe even PRS rifles.

I want a good trigger but am strictly a varmint shooter. Targets only for load workup. I just ordered a Jard.
Please let us know how it works out for You. I got one of the Savage Jards when they first came out, but I could never get the creep out of it.

Sav 2 Rifle Basix on mine
Was a pain to tune but when done I like it a lot
Trick is use the heavy spring they send Not the light. Sounds wrong but I have a nice trigger under 10 oz. It is controlled and works great. Sear adjustment is the key. It takes patience and very very small adjustments at a time
The light spring just would not control the trigger it would slam fire
FWIW they were very helpful when contacted for help.

The Savage Rifle Basic II for Top Bolt Release or the Sharpshooter Supply, For Bottom Bolt release the JARD,there are no other good options

Does anyone know why there are limited choices of Savage triggers ? Other rifle makes seem to have multiple options available.

There are lots of choices for Savage triggers. They just do not lend themselves to very light, crisp trigger pulls demanded by precision Bench Rest Shooters. This is due to the Savage Fire Control Design. The original Savage design was to provide a very affordable bolt action rifle. Savage has produced many accurate rifles when in the hands of skilled shooters, in spite of its triggers.

We will see how this rumored Bix & Andy Savage Trigger turns out, and if it can be sold at a cost that can justify hanging it on a Savage action.

After many years of trying, I ditched the Savage so I could finally shoot real triggers. I still have one Savage that I have not sold with hopes that someone will come out with a real benchrest trigger.

The B&A looks like it will be about 16 ounce pull.....hard pass for me.

I have a 2-3 oz. trigger on one of my Savages, it came from Fred Moreo and is one of the last that he made.
Now that savageshooters is gone you probably will not hear much about Sharpshooterssupply anymore.
I had an opportunity to get one of Fred’s Evolution Triggers, but procrastinated until they were no longer available. Probably the best Savage Target Trigger ever made? You had to send Your action in to have it Timed and Trued with the trigger. I have one of His Sharp Shooter Supply Competition Triggers, which is the closest thing to a Jewel for a Savage. But, when Savage went with the Bottom Bolt Release, they would no longer work, so Fred stopped making them. A good trigger, but like before, they were all gone before I got any more :(

According to the inquiry email response I received I wouldn’t necessarily consider these triggers rumored. However, price point will definitely be a consideration.
