Dehumidifier recommendations

Needs to do 200SF

Auto on off based on humidity level - so it won’t run 24/7

Ability to set desired humidity range

Auto drain ( can be gravity feed)

recommendations?

I go through them about every couple of years. Just bought a new one from Home Depot that has a pump to self drain. I haven’t hooked the drain up yet but that was a reason I bought the one I did. Can’t remember the brand.

I used to buy the common junk that's out there and decided to go a step up, Just bought a Vevor commercial grade for my basement, so far, very pleased
They make i believe 3 sizes, the 156 is the middle

Does that run continuously or does it kick on and off based on humidity level?

I’ve been using a GE from Lowes with the pump and drain tube for well over 5 years. I guess I’ve been lucky with it. It’s amazing to see the amount of water it removes each day. I live in coastal SC where our humidity is often 100% this time of year.

The only problem for me (in the warmer months) is they make heat and there’s no way to mitigate that other than AC, which also dehumidifies.

I’m glad to know about the Vevor, when mine croaks I may get one.

I bought this one 3 years ago at Lowes.
It is in my shop which is an attached garage and it is still going strong.
When the humidity starts rolling in here in North Texas it gets pulled out, plugged in and left on till the humidity rolls out.
I keep it at 30% which is the lowest setting and its runs all the time. I have to empty it twice a day.
With the mini split set at 72 degrees, 75-80 percent humidity outside it will keep the shop between 35-40% humidity.

I have a Pelonis 50 pint that I bought from Menards.
Has the automatic function and a pump built in and a 3 year warranty.
If there's a Menards near you I would recommend it.

I have this exact one in my basement. Piped it out the side of my house. Been going good for about 2 years. Think it's a good buy, and would be good for the size space the OP mentioned.

My Frigidaire 30 pint has been running for five years now. It has a simple mechanical switch (round knob) to set the humidity level.

I bought a small manual empty unit at Sears 25 years ago. It runs almost constantly during the summer. Keeps 40% in my basement . Probably horribly inefficient, but it won't die. Advice is to get one with no pump as that's the first thing to fail. Add a dedicated condensate pump. They last for many years.

Ya go to Home Depot and buy one. Don’t buy the two year warranty because they usually last 3 years. When it dies, ya buy another one. I’m on my fifth one in my shop.

Yea I was doing this for years.. a few of them died after 13-14 months.

Do yourself a favor and buy a real dehumidifier. It will pay for itself as you wont have to buy a new one every 1-3yrs.
