Interesting solution! Looks like the cost isn’t much more, and it should last longer than 2-3 years.

I installed two one ton units in my 30x30 shop. I never use both even on 100 degree days or 0 degrees days.

It keeps my shop super dry because I store my barrels there.

I do suggest you get an overhang for the evaporator unit and mount it on the outside wall.

Frankly, the mini split is taking over the ac industry. It's so easy to install and is much more efficient.

I wonder how you guys live and deal with that high humidity, as the year I spent in Vietnam dealing with the tropical heat and humidity about slayed me.

It's very much like Vietnam here today. Just oppressive. It's been raining off and on and then it goes to near 100 degrees. When the wind stops blowing, it is downright dangerous.

I was in Colorado shooting and it was 103 and 9 percent humidity. I had not felt that healthy in years.

I have 3 GE whatevers from home depot, one in my house, garage, and shop. The one in the garage has been running for 5 years, it's dirty in there, it's covered in chainsaw oil and half filled with cottonwood tree gunk. It still dumps water like the day I got it. I blow it out maybe twice a year.

Play the lottery, your lucky. I had 3 GE feom home depot die in the same time frame each were over $400 a piece

Does that run continuously or does it kick on and off based on humidity level?

You can set it to whatever you want, it will maintain it, so it kicks on and off

I think what he’s asking is if it kicks completely off. Most residential units will cycle the compressor to maintain the humidity set point, but the fan runs continuously which is pretty annoying.
