What is a 6brx dies and what is it used for
6BRX is a cartridge based on the 6BR that shoulders have been blown .100 forward with no shoulder angle change and no other changes. Hence the 6BRX die. What is a 6brx dies and what is it used for
Actually, I just measured all my go gauges for the 6BRX, The 6 BRX Whitley is .100 longer than 6 BR. The 6 BRX Crone is 1.280 longer than a 6 BR or .0270 longer than the Whitley 6BRX.6 BRX
The 6 BRX is the brainchild of champion F-class shooter Bob Crone. It leaves the shoulder angle unchanged so you can use regular 6mm BR dies, though a custom reamer is required to cut the chamber. While 6 Dashers seem more common, the 6 BRX offers equivalent performance with lower tooling cost. For that reason, the 6 BRX may be the smart “improved” choice if you want more velocity from your 6BR. Clymer Tools has the reamer for the 6 BRX, using Crone’s original design. Pacific Tool & Gauge also has BRX-style reamers. Specs: 30° standard shoulder, blown forward .10″, neck-length = .210″. Can use standard dies, but the case will not fit a standard chamber. While the BRX gives up a little capacity by using the standard shoulder angle of the 6mm BR Norma case, velocities will be right up there with the 6 Dasher.
Why...???Bill and DJ have covered perfectly, I'll just add that the BRX performs exactly like a Dasher even down to load data for the most part.
No, the Crone BRX die will not touch the Whitley shoulder. A 6 BR die will bump the shoulder but will not size a Whitley or Crone at the .200 line. Can you still size the Whitley brass with the regular Crone BRX dies or does it take special a special sizer die?
I have a set of Whidden BRX dies but the Whitely BRX caught my attention.
The GT is very unique as it has a 35º shoulder and requires a die for that specific brass. To me, the 'BRX' (in any caliber) offers the most blend of features of a bigger BR case. The 'best' big BR case is probably the the GT.
Good shootin'-Al
I understand that...The GT is very unique as it has a 35º shoulder and requires a die for that specific brass.

Never tried any of the other off-springs of the 6BR but the 6BRX is definitely one of my favorite cartridges to load for and shoot. Very easy to tune and keep in tune which is considered to be the most important by many.I have shoot the BRX since the0 article in the Daily Bulletin hit in this forum many years ago. Probably 25 barrels at times 2 guns in a season. I have won from 100 to a 10000 yards, group, score, paper, steel. All with Varget, 107 SMK, at 2990. So thinking a change would be fun I shot a 6BRA last year. If I do any more barrels, nearing the end, I will probably go back to the BRX. Great cartridge.

Jeff, which BRX cartridge would you choose if you went back to it? Whitley or Crone.I have shoot the BRX since the0 article in the Daily Bulletin hit in this forum many years ago.
