Target Scope cleaning service

Just completed another Balvar 24 for member here. Cloudy reticle. Won’t be doing these much longer due to my health and one every year or so isn’t worth my time.

Funny coincidence, just had a few months ago Parson’s clean mineral deposits on the reticle of my 24 Bolvar. Took quite a white to get it done, but the glass was perfect when I received it. He did a very good job.

I had tried Parsons several years ago with no luck or very long lead time so decided to do it myself on my scope. Do have a lot of experience in optical systems so nothing strange. The Balvar 24 is the only scope i will work on so I get them turned around within 1-2 weeks.

No go with any of them. Guess I will look for parts scope with good reticle and do it myself.
Look up a site called Standard Surplus? They sell all kinds of lenses and optical parts, very inexpensive. You don't need to buy a complete scope.

I may need to send you a balavar
I have a kollmorgen that has fogged rear lenses , took it apart and they are white hazed , need to be polished , what do you use to polish lenses ? I googled but curious what you do

I only do Balvar 24 scopes on occasion as the major problem with these is lubricant migration over time on the glass reticle plane and you need to disassemble the whole zoom reticle assembly to work on it. Must be very careful as the metal evaporated on glass is easily damaged. I normally take 1-2 weeks on these.

Don’t believe you will get these surplus as the optics were made specifically for this scope and matched. B&L also made matching optics for the good Lyman scopes back then.

Recently purchased one. It was like new in box. At low power you can see some specs. At high power you can see why appears to be particles on the cross hairs. Do you think this is fixable? If so I would be very interested in your repair service.

Try a good camera lens cleaning service they deal with the same problems in older lenes.

Unfortunately you have dissaemble the scopes zoom optics to remove the glass reticle and unless you’re versed in them best left to those that know. Easy to get in trouble.
