Exploding crows

Nice story. I think about stuff like this all the time. It really meant something to me being able to do things like this growing up. The 222 Remington cartridge will always be a favorite. I love the 20 cals and wanted to combine the 2 cartridges so a 20-222 was only a matter of time.
I have a couple of 20 Turbos (20-222) that I used for Prairie Dog shooting for several years. When I had my reamer made, I left the neck the full length instead of cutting it short like Todd Kindler did. I also did some Coyote Hunting with them in in West Texas . I used the 39 Gr SBK. Great little cartridge. Very impressive out of that little case. H-4198 was the powder. You will really like it a lot.

I love the 2 i have. Look forward to trying some other powders and bullets. Just haven’t had the time.

This is what ive found… if your a very good shot, consistently, you can smoke the locals out in short order. Close ones first, a cpl catch on and hang out a little farther. If your a phenomenal shot you can smoke them too. Now you cleaned out the small local flock. In no time new Tourist show up and the process repeats. They are very smart birds tho.

We had a late winter early spring storm after a month of dry and snowless up here and dropped close to a ft of wet heavy snow in some spots on Wednesday into Thursday. I hadn't had a Friday off work for a few months and wanted to go look for some sheds and shoot after a not all winter. Both of those plans went belly up when it started snowing again. Took the time to confirm zero on a .204 loaded with 32 gr varmageddon's over RL10X. The swans and geese were just out of visual range but could hear them through the snow which was fun. Ended up switching gears to crows. The heavy falling snow was really messing them up. Normally they sense you take your foot off the gas pedal to slow down and even look and they're gone. Definitely capitalized on the radar interference. Nailed 4 but the fields were way to muddy to retrieve. 1 was only available for a pic.

Still snowing in the pic.

The Nosler 32BT is what I use-

I picked up a few bargain 34gr Varmengedon nitghmare from MidSouth Shooters the other day while I was there- to try out-
Found they EXPAND on wet cardboard-they have a huge meplat hole( biggest I seen yet ) - .562” OAL of the bullets-IMG_7865.jpegIMG_7882.jpegIMG_7871.jpegAfter applying WS2, I worked up a load (I hope) -
Here’s 1 warmer shot & 5 more @ 100yds- have to wait till a calm dry day to confirm-these was 3846fpsIMG_7881.jpegI found out what the bargain was.. some genius tumbled them in walnut media & vacuum sealed them in 250ct bags… so it’s stuck in the nose of the bullet-( have to pick the nose) to get it out, then they will shoot…

I have 500 of those 34 gr nightmares I still need to try. You're right. Can about shove a ballpoint pen in the hp of those.

39gr tnt's with benchmark gave me my best group out of my Savage vlp in .204 surprisingly edging out the 39 blitzking's.
