First BR rifle

Still kicking this around. On the fence between a 30br and 6ppc.

Probably going to come down to availability. Powder, bullets, brass, and a used platform.

6 ppc pros...
Less recoil, cheaper bullets, preferred powders readily available.
6 ppc cons.....
Shorter barrel life.

30 br pros....
LONG barrel life.
30 br cons.....
More recoil, preferred powders not as widely available, bullets more expensive.

One thing Shortt never mentioned is your BR gonna be for group??? Or Score??
Weight comes into factor-
10.5lb LV in group-
13.5lb in score-

A LV ppc rig (10.5lb) will get ya in both competitions- & you’ll be the determining factor as a shooter-
There are some nice ppc rifles in the classifieds now..

If you are thinking of shooting, there must be a range within reasonable distance. Take a box of doughnuts over and ask questions. I'm sure someone will even let you shoot their rifle.

Well, a light .308Win is more than I like. A heavy .260Rem is nice.
No idea what a qualifying 30BR has for recoil. Never shot one.
Not near a full length 308, I kept hearing about the recoil as well. Coming from deer rifles (.270, 30-06, even .243) I’m like what recoil??
Compared to 6ppc yeah but it’s not that noticeable to me.
