I walked into the local gun shop….

It was raining!….and YOU have a hand in this! I offered you those dies and brass months ago FOR FREE and you didn’t take them! Left them with me to worm into my brain. Who keeps dies for a gun he doesn’t own?

By the way: There was a very nice Anschutz 153 with double set triggers in 222. Had a scope on her, too. Think he was asking $800 or $1000 for it if anybody’s looking for one.
I resisted ‘cause I have enough 222s.;)
good thing that anchutz isnt in a shop around here!! And anyway you were gonna make me pay 4 those dies and brass. besides its not like you dont have anything to shoot. And i got alot of dies i dont have guns for!! So git out there to ur new private range and send a few instead of walloring around in the LSGs-- youll be glad you did har har

I've been "downsizing" a Bit, also,.. But,..
I walked into, one of the Newer Gunshop's in my Area ( Yeah, I should Know better ) and spied, a 336 Marlin, .30-30, in sweet shape and remembered that, I've been wanting to, replace my, hard asszz-Kicking, ( with Full Power, 350 gr Bullets ) .45-70 1895 Marlin lever for,.. a while.
They wanted, $899.00 for, a used, 336 .30-30 ?? YIKES !
NO fudging way, am I paying THAT Kind of Money to,. Plink Steel / maybe Hunt, a Timber Whitetail, next Fall !
I got on the Phone to some Pawn shop's and found, a clean Marlin 30AS ( Same Rifle, Birch stock ) for $300 Bucks Cheaper, .. Yup,. I Own it !! Oh my, those Lower Caliber, Lever Rifles are,. Fun to, shoot !

Josh is this the Rossi that is stainless but not bright? It has a dull grey finish? I looked at one my friend was lusting over at the hardware store where he built arrows and set up bows for customers. Very nice rifle!

the price of the lever guns does seem outrageous these days-- id like to have a couple of the RugMar models but at over 1K each i have hesitated-- at least i have a 336 and 1895 RemMars to get me by. --good buy you made--- that Josh guy is getting me interested in those pistol caliber lever guns- may have room for one of them.

This is one reason I no longer go to the LGS, can't walk out without something.
Trust Me, I DON'T Go,. very often anymore ( I know that, I can't be Trusted,.. sometimes ! ).
Pistol Cal Levers are, a Blast for informal Plinking and pretty Cheap to, shoot !
I only need some, .30 cal Flat nose Bullets ( $30- $38.00 Hund ) as, i have, a Ton of suitable Powder and 4 kinds of, Primers ( Some CCI's from the 1980's that, I NEED to,. shoot Up ) so it's pretty cheap to, shoot the .30-30 .
It's gonna Be used for, Field Position, steel Plate practice from 75 to maybe, 250 yards ( 2 x 7 Scope with, Hash mk's )

Polished side plates, matte barrel. The longer barrel balances perfectly in my longer arms and allows for a 12 round capacity.

that dont look bad. Bottom Line here is we dont have what i would call a Good Gun Shop in the whole county. many more people buy their guns ordering off online these days— ive done it—shop just closed 30 miles from me. i sure miss checking out the local shops other places ive lived— once a week (at least) If i opened a shop the trouble is id wanna take home all the used inventory. o_O mabie i should move but look at all the $ Im saving compared to you guys who have a good LGS to stop into “once in a while”. Im just not interested in many factory guns these days though so mabie its not so bad here.

The rifle Andy was looking at had a gray finish and looked to have gray wood also. It may not sound like it but it was a very attractive rifle.

I paid $800 a few years ago for a JM Connecticut marlin 336 in 35 remington plus dies and cases and a scope and thought that was a lot. Not so anymore !

Ha! You did well! I bought the same gun in 30-30 for the same money and didn’t get any dies or brass. Shortly there after, a guy put up a 35 Remington here and I was out of fun money! Consider yourself lucky!

I used to own two Rossi's, one in .357, and one in .45 Colt. Very fun shooters! I used a Duplex load in the Colt. 3grs. of smokeless to 29 grs. of 3f Swiss and a compressed card wad and 250 lead pill.
Got all the lovely smoke of the Holy Black, but none of the fouling!

Is downsizing even possible? Or desirable? If i weren't trying to make some old rifle new again what would i be doing? Creating carbon, pissing off the neighbors, driving a 4 wheeler or dirt bike that is way too loud, shooting Iguanas?? What good can come from downsizing?
