Somebody at the range I talked to let me shoot his that was in .44 magnum. It was very likeable and a fun shooting experience.I walked into sportsmans warehouse few weeks ago on my way home from work. Wasn't looking to buy anything. Just wanted to relax before going home from a long day in the office. Sure enough I found something I couldn't live without. A ruger 77/357. I have wanted one for years but never see them for sale. It was used but looked new. Also grabbed a bottle of h110 and some 158 grain bullets. Took it out last weekend just to try it out with cheap 38special loads and a suppressor. Fun to shoot. Quiet and light too. Trying to talk myself into using it on my javelina hunt next weekend.
You know Josh I feel the same way. I have always had a few lever rifles but a year or so ago I started to pick up a few more and I been having a lot of fun with them just like you are. On my Henry’s I been mounting a scope and working up loads but not spending a huge amount of time doing it then I pull the scope and just have fun shooting the iron sightsSounds like a nice gun. You’ll enjoy the scope capabilities of that gun. I’m finding real pleasure in these pistol round rifles. It’s a fun change from neck turning, tight chambers and the chase of tiny groups. Kinda like a grown man’s Red Ryder.
the eyes are my issue to. i just put one of those glowing front sites on my 336. that seems like its gonna help - havent tryed it yet. mabie one would help you.Yup! I’m with you! I just wish my eyes were better. I think I got a new pair of glasses a few years ago. The ones I’m using might be them or they might be an older pair.
yeah - thanks for that info- i have tried quite a few different powers of readers with different guns and sites and scopes. some they help some not. my nondominant left eye is in alot better shape than the right and its easy to shift to that eye shooting a handgun with irons. shooting an M1 garand last summer the peep site on that helped and using readers with the peep helped more but its amazing to me how clear a picture of the front site i could get without any corrections with my messed up right eye.@hoz53, I use 1.25 readers when shooting handguns but they didn’t work well on a rifle with iron sights. Al my rifles now have either peeps or scopes. Danny

PS - on some irons wearing a pair of cheap readers/cheaters help me alot. i have distance lenses in my eyes from cataract surgery.
Oh and see wat you did- - got me thinking of a lever action 44mag—
thanksIf you get a Rossi, I have them figured out. They’re pretty good for the price. Spring is coming.
