I shoot the BRA now at 600 yds and have been wanting to build a new rifle and trying to decide on 6ARC, 6GT or 6 creedmoor .Thoughts?
I’m interested in knowing what projectiles and velocities.Hhmmm, I am shooting in a local league of 20 members. 33% of them are shooting some iteration of the 6BR. We compete at distances of 100/200/300yds and most 10 Rings are .5MOA in size.
I just started shooting a 6ARC this season and after two weeks am in the top 5 scorers.
I have talked extensively with these other shooters with the BR, BRA, Dashers I am shooting the same weight bullets and nearly identical speeds as they are..
I'm using Berger Hybrid 105gr over LeverEvolution with Rem 7.5 primers and Starline brass. In my 28" barrel they are running about 2780fps.I’m interested in knowing what projectiles and velocities.
I’ve recently acquired a 6mm ARC and have begun experimenting with different bullet weights, trying to find a good combo of velocity/ trajectory/ wind drift.
Well, more. While the powder capacity is pretty much the same, the projectiles are heavier. I have been impressed recently - a new member turning up to the range with an ARC. Built on a Mini Howa with a Kreiger barrel - and it shoots! Performed well at 800yds I know that she is running Superformance powder and Hornady 108's. It isn't far behind my BR for speed or accuracy. I'm almost tempted to build on for fun, as I have a Grendel with a worn barrel in the safe.6arc is more or less a 6 PPC
Not to take away from the topic on the arc, but that’s exciting to hear of your thoughts on the GT.For what its worth: I have three 6 BRs and two 6 BRAs . I built a 6 GT about four years ago and it is fast becoming my favorite cartridge. I have some 6X47 Lapuas that I really like very much. But again, the 6 GT is the rifle that pick up now when I go shooting. I really like that cartridge a lot. I've been using Alpha brass and it is very good . It may not be Lapua but when that brass become available, it will give a whole new life to the 6 GT.
What do you want to do with the rifle?Thoughts?
I have a 6BRA and shoot my friends 6 arc quite a bit.Thoughts?
Though they use the same case one was designed to use 60-70gr bullets while the other was designed to use long 105gr bullets. PPC uses very short freebore/leade/throat. Lengthen that and you are back to the ARC dimensions.6arc is more or less a 6 PPC
For 100gr class bullets the 6ARC seems underpowered a bit. I’d start with 6BR and go up depending on your velocity requirements.
True, and it’s right with the 6.5 Grendel as the most long-range-capable cartridge that fits in the AR-15 platform. But that doesn’t make it competitive with long range cartridges outside of the AR-15 context.ARC was designed to be a weeny cartridge for gas guns. I don't know why anyone would specifically use/build a bolt gun around it.
