To the range tomorrow with my 'new' 25CM rifle

Have postponed both the 25-284 and the 25WSSM.. The single principal reason is that the latest shoulder-joint-repair surgery last has caused my already recoil-wimpy right shoulder to be even more sensitive to recoil, so straight to the 25 Creedmoor I went. I hope that rig operates well; seems I'm having rookie-type problems.. Oh well...

Will be shooting mostly Sierra 131s with 4 groups of Hornady 143s plus 30 break-in rounds for the new barrel.

FWIW, my new Garmin chrono worked pefectly today, reliable and easy to use.

That will likely be my next .257 cartridge. Love my 25-284 but I can more than likely get everything done with the 25CM that I can with my 25-284. Brass is getting low for my 284 so I think I'll get the new 25CM brass that's offered. Gonna be down the road a ways yet but once this barrel is toast, I'm gonna switch cartridges.

I have a Browning A Bolt SSA in 25 WSSM.
One can hardly say that it's hard recoiling!

Let's face it, most people go the 25CM route because...
1) better available brass.
2) brass is easier to find.
3) think that it magically gives you some advantage over the 25 WSSM. (It doesn't)

Happy that you got your rifle built, and that you're happy with it!

Just don't use the injured shoulder as an excuse for the CM over the WSSM.
 
Great news--had an EXCELLENT day at Ben Avery; everything worked, no mishaps, etc.. Got the barrel started breaking in, shot 6 trios of pressure tests, confirmed that my Zeiss V8 4.8-35 scope still can't be adjusted enough vertically to offset the 20MOA rail, all the while having a fine time.. Was a tad disappointed with the lack of accuracy of the loads with the Sierra 131s, but that most-probably had more to do with me than the bullet.. After all, shooting is a learned skill, and it can be lost as well as gained.

One snippet of info--the smallest group* with 131s was the highest in velocity, that being 2972FPS (28", 7-twist barrel and 44gn.** of SuperFormance, Fed. 210M).. Other than that and the other top-step excessive load, best velocities were 2880 and 2924FPS.

* and the only sub-1" group

is you have any available, try the 117? gr SSTs. I have not used them in 25. very accurate in 7mm
 
Received my used Sightron SIII 10-50X60LRTD scope yesterday--TYVM Wildcatter, for the excellent condition of the scope, shade, and adjustable mounts and also the excellent packaging and quick shipping--and mounted it with my Zeiss 30mm, medium-height rings. I'm confident that its reticle's additional vertical range (over that of my Zeiss V 4.8-35) will allow it to shoot low enough at close dictances.

I bore-sited it in my backyard yesterday and the reticle looked barely visible; I hope it's a good bit more visible tomorrow at Ben Avery; I have a dozen more trios to shoot including my first set with the Berger 135 LRHTs.
 
Had another wonderful day Sunday the 15th at the range; because I'm shooting a caliber, the 25Creed, that's newish to the reloading industry, not much professional reloading data is published, so I had loaded a large series of pressure tests with the Hornady 134, the Sierra 131, and the Berger 135.. Finished shooting those and found a combination--new Alpha 6CM LR brass, Fed. 210M, VV N170, and 134--that shoots far smaller--average of three 100-yard 3-shot groups was 0.42"--than anything else I shot.. Will be refining that combination this week.

Also paid a little more attention to my shooting techniques...or lack thereof...and discovered I was holding my rifle too tightly in too many places; it's been MANY years since I've shot 'seriously', and it's easy to forget.

Also discovered my new-to-me Sightron 10-50x56 scope can't be turned low enough when mounted on a 20MOA rail to shoot 'flat' at 100 yards, and I'm now seriously considering the newish ZEISS 5-25x56 LRP S5 Riflescope (ZF-MOAi Reticle)...
...that has 140MOA of vertical range, to be placed on a flat...or 20MOA, for that matter...rail.. My expensive Zeiss V8 4.8-35x60 scope has the highest-quality optics I've ever seen, so I think I'll be going back to Zeiss.

After about 3 years, on and off, I've finally found a rifle load worth pursuing; it's about time!

I’ve been disappointed in the last two Sierras I bought, 168’s in 30 cal and 140’s in 6.5. Neither of them have shot close to what I was expecting.

I know exactly what you mean about shooting technique. I finally figured out that I was shooting with too much tension and it works the same way as in the golf swing. Need to relax the grips and get everything in place without tension or stress in the hold (swing for golf) :) .
