Varget will certainly be apart of it all. Just wish the deep freeze was not knocking at the door.Another vote for Varget

I have a jug of VV150 I am going to try, they say it’s almost identical to Varget. I gave up on Varget when it was impossible to find and with the huge price increase I doubt I will even look for it again.Varget with 450 primer
Varget is everywhere now
My straight 6br107 Sierra 30g varget 28 in 8 twist Shilen is 2820-2850 depending on brand of brass
The 450 primer helps this combo work really well I quit thinking about more speed after I started shooting targets--they were good enough and primers / cases/ pockets are happy
Easiest rifle to load and tune ever! One day of effort--all settled in--the Hammer in my safe for sure!
But...I love VV powders and with the price /quality advantage they enjoy now--is great-- if I was starting over I would try VV140
I did get 450 mag primers. I also have varget. I am looking at VV. Seems the 130 and 140 are used in the smaller grn bullets. I shoot 105 Hammers. I have a "gut" feeling about N 540. I think it will fit in my final three powders. Will soon see. thanks.I have a jug of VV150 I am going to try, they say it’s almost identical to Varget. I have an 8lber of that unicorn dust and am just north of The Cities. Thanks guys:
Having real trouble finding 4895 which is why Im looking around for new options.
Hi: Im north of Two Harbors basically. What grn bullet do you shoot? Velo? I currently shoot 308 at Agate Bay Gun Club. Also put up a 100 yard range on my 40 for load development. My BR is getting built as we speak. Just had a former shooter of the year tell me to use H4895 with 105 hybrids. So you have a pound?I have an 8lber of that unicorn dust and am just north of The Cities.
I shoot 29gr of N140 in my BR's, but I'm not aiming for those kinds of speeds. I'd spin up a BRA if I was.
Do you shoot at Northwest Gun Club?
I shoot 105 VLDs @~2750-2775. I shoot High Power(sling), so pushing it hard makes no sense. If I was looking for 2900, I'd shoot a BRA or Dasher.Hi: Im north of Two Harbors basically. What powder would it take to get 2900 fps out of a 28" tube with a 105 class bullet in a 6br? Safely?
Bill: You seem to know Varget well. I would be comfortable at about 2850fps as long as there arent pressure signs. 6BR Norma, 28 inch, 8 twist, 105s. Can I accomplish this under 30.4 grns do you think? thanksFairly easy with Varget.
4064 is really versatile. It is my go to powder for CMP loads in 308. Used in my AR10s and also several other 308 bolt guns. Heck can even use it in 223/556. But Tac has been my preferred powder for that caliber.IMR 4064 might get you there, it gets my Ackley to 3000

I shot my best 300 yard groups july 4th 2023 with 105s and 15.5 shot a string of 16 shots straight , 4 groups where they all grouped in a way I couldn't believe. Ragged hole groups now. If I where to go back to shooting mid range type shooting, 15.5 would be my first choice. It did some stuff no other powder Iv ever used produced. Some serious low ES, SD. NumbersI do have some TS 15.5 that I will try.
Thanks
Thanks, I will be trying 4064 as 4895 is unobtainable.IMR-4064 @ 30.0 gr.
SMK 107 @ 2.440" COAL
Lapua or Norma brass
Fed 205M primer
That's my match load for 6BR.
