I use Pirateship almost daily but I have seen quite an increase even with them, especially with the PO on larger packages. The answer for me this year has been PIRATESHIP.com
It does take longer for prices to go down than up, but at least prices aren't going to double and triple in the next 4 years.UPS has always taken advantage
Then the post office got much of my business with flat rate boxes--now they are stupid high $$

Simple as falling out of a tree--cheaper than anything else I can find--EASY--all you need is a cheapo shipping scale and tape gun from Amazon
Just wait--all this talk about things will go down $$$ now because of the election -- is total BS Folks are in for a nasty surprise--everything is going to go up--It Never goes down
It all makes Amazon Prime look like a steal--now if they would only do a shipping service??
Order it at 47"!! Sometimes you just have to play the game. F them!I got an email today from Online Metals saying that UPS has added a $40 surcharge, on top of normal rates, to any shipment that is over 48" in length! If true, that's a real ripper!
I'll write that down..It does take longer for prices to go down than up, but at least prices aren't going to double and triple in the next 4 years.

I wish they would but I bet it all depends on FCC rules--getting permission or access to the states and routes you need--bet that will be a good fightAmazon has its own fleet of airplanes, ground delivery vehicles and warehouses. They seem poised to eat UPS, FedEx and the post office for lunch. Not sure if that is a good thing but it is what it is.
Amazon has no where the number of delivery vehicles it needs to deliver all of it's pkgs.Amazon has its own fleet of airplanes, ground delivery vehicles and warehouses. They seem poised to eat UPS, FedEx and the post office for lunch. Not sure if that is a good thing but it is what it is.

Not yet they don't. But if you watched what they did in the cloud computing world then you see the pattern. Build out the infrastructure until you have excess capacity then take that capacity to market.Amazon has no where the number of delivery vehicles it needs to deliver all of it's pkgs.
That's why it takes all of the other 3 companies to do it. It takes millions of dollars, years to build up a fleet,
hire thousands of drivers and get ( as dusterdave 173 ) permission to do it. It takes licensing.
Right now it's cheaper for them to have others do it at a reduced rate.
Look at USPS, they low balled taking their pkgs and what did it get them, 10 billion in losses.
Yeah, that was the problem Fred Smith faced when starting FedEx. Amazon however already has facilities in all states and their airplanes fly product all over. They may need licenses to service the public directly but in essence, they already are.I wish they would but I bet it all depends on FCC rules--getting permission or access to the states and routes you need--bet that will be a good fight
Would sure be handy to ship with them though...
LOL, FCC or FAA, eh what's a couple letters off mean. Heck there's so many communications electronics in air trans these days might as well be FCC & FAA. One big EMP and we'll all be talking to the FFA.FAA?
