UPS Shipping Price Increase

I work in the freight business. A lot of people do not realize how much paperless billing has effected USPS. I frequent the local hub for work and the post master recently told me that they are considering doing away with Saturday delivery’s. They also signed a contract with Amazon delivering their packages on Sundays. I know in Texas USPS has closed nearly all rural Post Offices.

As far as prices go they will never quit rising. The amount of money it cost to maintain a fleet of modern trucks would make you sick. The DEF systems alone have raised our yearly maintenance cost 19 million I believe. And that’s with over a third of our fleet not having a DEF system.

In the near future you will see LTL carriers offering parcel services.

Westex91, open your eyes! You have no idea the amount of money it takes to keep any other business afloat, besides the 'freight business' and what the postmaster has said. The cost to maintain the tooling, maintain the building and complying with regulations and the associated paper work (whether truly on paper or on a computer) would make you sick! Much of us out here in the 'real world' would like to have the benefits that a postal employee has! Ain't no "paid days off" when you are self-employed! No sick days either. And the 'bonus' you receive is if you meet your 'target' dollar figure for the month/year.

I have no idea? I spend every single day in machine shops, hardware stores, feed stores, warehouses, etc... Operating cost effects everybody pal. 95.5% of our revenue is operating cost. The remaining 4.5% is used to pay salaries. I bust my ass every single day to provide the service these people need. These people are not only my customers they are my friends and family. I’ve played both sides of the ball buddy. The freight business is my newest career. I cuss and grit my teeth daily But The lord has blessed me with a job at an amazing company. I will never work for one of the big three mentioned.

Paying for shipping is just a way of life, and lately I'd rather pay than get the pony express free shipping. Shipping labels created within minutes, then sits for 4 days, then it's transferred to the shipper and you can track it zig zagging it's way across the country. Not so sure I haven't seen packages coming west make a 200 mile jaunt back east for a day.

You are correct! You have NO idea! Everyone thinks they have it so much worse than everyone else. Tunnel vision! There's a "big picture " out there, but few see it.........

Well, they are doubling the size of the Lenexa, KS hub. Guess they have to pay for it.

Same for the hub in Lexington Ky
