Powder Suggestions for 6mmBR and 105s?

I am new to BR shooting and as my rifle is being built Im looking at different powder possibilities to push my Bart's Hammer 105 grn bullets out to 600 yards. Rifle is a 6MM BR Norma with 1:8 twist and a 28 inch barrel.

I live in northern Minnesota and would be competing most likely in the upper midwest. Gives a little info on temp requirements. I am also trying to obtain about 2900 fps.

Also new to the forum. Hope I posted this in the right place.

Thanks, Brew2

Allen: Have been looking thru those threads. I was looking at N-140 but it looks to me that it serves better with the lighter bullets on the Vitivourie website. But being new to all of this I could be way wrong. Any experience with N-540?

I'm currently using Varget or H4895. If N140 and 150 was easily available in NZ, I would be trying that too. 4064 and IMR4895 would be other choices to work with.

29.2g of H4895 produces 2780fps in my 30 in barrel using Alpha brass/Remington 7 1/2 primer. Sierra 107 MK. If you are looking for 2900fps, perhaps the Dasher or BRA/BRX would be a better choice - but beware of barrel wear etc.

Edir - following a range day at 600 yds - In tricky wind - I was getting better results with Varget at 2810 fps. I'll be using that load to test for seating depth etc to tune. I'll re visit H4895 later - cos I have 5kilos!

I use 30.1gr of Varget and 105’s out of a 26” Shilen barrel(8twist) and get an avg MV of 2890. Same load out of my 26” Urbanrifleman barrel(8twist) averaged 2865, however the Shilen has another 450-500 rounds thru it so could be why it’s faster? Not sure.
Anyway, you could be close to 2900, and maybe the extra 2” of rifling will get ya there.

Been wanting to try some N-140 in them but haven’t gotten around to it yet.
