hydro forming

is hydro forming really necessary is a caliber like the 6 BR or any BR with the long barrel life and they can shoot really well with the fireforming loads?

I’m confused. Are you asking if you need to hydro form 6br brass to shoot in a 6br?

I've had pretty darned good accuracy shooting fire-form loads in my 22BR. I had necked down a bunch of cases from 7BR using a cut off 243 die for a mid-step. Then a FL 22BR die for the final. The shoulders were pretty wonky, and needed a blow-out.

I used a mid power load with 4895 just cause I had a bunch of it. Bullets were seconds.. These shells grouped sub MOA, and were fine for shooting squirrels. The shoulders blew out nicely, and everything was sweet. jd

just asking if hydro forming is worth it !!
Depends on what you call shooting well. I always shot a normal load with bullets to FF my 6BRX. I would think that hydoforming would be at a much lower pressure than shooting at 55,000 PSI. Don't know but I would guess hydro forming at a low pressure isn't as good as good as powder and bullet. My rifles are for varmint hunting. I am not trying to compete with anyone. My 6BRX rifle shoots under 1/2" groups when FF. I could hunt with FF loads. I don't like the idea of mailing cases to someone and paying them to do something I can do.
