A 3 barrel hunting rifle

A woodstock hunting rifle for my buddy Wyman Meinzer.
1. a new Remington receiver
2. bushed bolt nose and .062 firing pin
3. tig welded and timed bolt handle
4. a 3 pos safety
5. an Anschutz bolt release
6. extra mag box and follower for the 6.5PRC
7. Shilen trigger

8. 3 Shilen CM barrels-6.5PRC, 7-08AI, and 308
9. a high polish Weatherby bluing
10. a custom walnut stock

It will be hunted hard as it ain't a safe queen. Yes, I rebated 50 0f the pieces of the 6.5 brass to fit the 308 bolt face.





It would have been cheaper and faster starting with a custom receiver.

Lots of 'fiddleback', and mineral steak, too. I can't make up my mind if it's Claro or English,,,,,,, probably English, though....... Is there any other 'hot, caustic bluing than "high polish 'Weatherby bluing"? Most have no idea of what it takes to "get there".

Wow, I don't remember. I only buy one at a time and think it was $45. shipping. Remember with the present exchange rate our dollar will be about $1.50 of their dollar.

That's a pretty attractive rifle, Butch. A very nice stock. The 700 receiver actually allows for pretty nice stock lines. I have toyed with the idea of recessing the recoil lug, like the Kimber, on a switch barrel 700. Doing this would locate the lug but would result in the loss of three threads. What do you think? WH

Bill, on one of my rifles I built a recoil lug that was micro tig spotted to the front ring. Not enough heat to bother it. Only one that would furnish me with a barrel blank the same OD of the receiver and a #4 Remington mag contour was Lilja. It looked sweet that way. I have pics somewhere.

That would look a bit like the Wichita rifles, with the lug the same diameter as the action. That would be a nice touch.

No, the lug that I made was kinda like a Mauser. It was all underneath the receiver. I wanted to post a photo, but this site said it was toon large.

Oh, I get it. I like that too. I'll admit, it's hard for me to wrap my head around welding on a 4140 receiver. Probably because I don't have the experience with precise tig welding.
