Long barrel with supressor accuracy?

I'm building a 30-31" barreled 300 normal imp. 1.35 tapering to 1.
I'm on the fence about a brake or supressor. I really don't like how loud brakes are. I was kind of thinking about a supressor. Worried about a supressor on that long of a barrel affecting accuracy. Any thoughts or experiences?

I second Ryan's comments. I have a 300 NMI with a Proof carbon barrel and a 338 Lapua Mag with a 30" Broughton barrel, both built by Ryan, running 338 Ultra Thunderbeast suppressors. Both shoot great. I did notice a 4 MOA drop in my zero on the Proof CF barrel when I put the can on verses Ryan's excellent brake.

I'll echo the same, sure POI changes, but with the right can you should see as good or better precision.

I have a TBAC Ultra 9 and it's different for each rifle/barrel as to how much POI shift but those I always use it on I simply zero them with it, then capture the POI shift so I know exactly where it's shooting either way.

How much shift really is soup to nuts, totally gun dependent. Some almost none to... can I cover that with my hand, but so far most of mine are 1-2moa poi shift and absolutely repeatable.

Also while the can may not reduce recoil as much as a good brake, it's not that much difference in feel (for me) so I generally either shoot bare or with can.

We, in my Family now have, 4 PVA, Back Country, Brakes on our Hunting Rifles,. in 6.5 Creed, 6.5 PRC, .270 WSM and, a 7 PRC, All with, 24 inch Barrels ( Not cumbersome ) Velocities, GREAT / Accuracy @ sub, 1/2 to, 3/4 MOA and,. the Brake, also Directs, the Horiffic, "Blast" that, MOST Brakes "Have",. AWAY from, the Shooter !
Very little,. POI Changes AND,. No,.. Accuracy, Loss !

I use the Area 419 hellfire brake and adapter on a Thunderbeast. Point of impact will change but generally it'll shoot the same quiet or loud. If your going to only shoot it suppressed just work your load up that way. As long as the threads are cut properly shouldn't be an issue.

Action Stiffness, lug chosen, and Bedding from the Tang to most of, the Shank portion of Barrel, will Probably be, Necessary for good Barrel, support.

FWIW, I’ve built many 30-34” barrel target rifles in everything from 223 to 338 Lapua and most of them run a suppressor. There is no problem running a suppressor on that length barrel. Most of the barrels I’ve installed are medium Palma contour, some even light Palma and some as heavy as a heavy varmint contour. No issues across any of those different contours or calibers. I’ve also seen suppressors as short as 5” and as long as 10” all again not a problem.
