Just another 222 Remington

I found a real problem with my 222 reamer after I paid to have it chambered the neck is .040 longer than my brass so I have some 223 Lapua brass and after forming in a Redding trim die and then full length sizing I trimed them .035 longer and turning the necks so I would not have a problem with a big carbon ring . ( ( standered 1.698 brass worked just fine except for signs of big carbon ring just makes more cleaning )) . Was the 133 powder 21 Gr a compressed load ? Guess I need to get some BIB 52g bullets , .

My load of 133 was 21.8 gr with 52 gr bullets and it shot 7 inches low , so it must be a lot slower didn't have my chrony with me .

Went out yesterday with my Sako L461, has 24" Hart 1:14 barrel. With Rem 7 1/2 primers, N133 at 21.7 & 21.8 grains, Berger 52 22408 HP bullets, shot a couple nice groups in a ladder test. Velocities 21.7 @ 3143 fps, and 21.8 3176 fps.

And 50 Vmax, CCI 400 primer, LT-32 did well @ 22.2 and 22.4

22.0 g of 133 is not a compressed load in my rifles. My COL is longer than SAAMI because I’m close to the lands.
21 gr of 133 is all I can get in my case how do you get 22 Gr of n133 in a 222 ? Is yours a standard 222 or a 222 AI.

Will do.

Besides running a rod through the bore is there another way to find out the twist? By S/N?
I've got two of these and use them sparingly. Most of the Bofors barreled guns are 14 twist and will not handle some of the modern ballistic tipped bullets even in 50 grains (they are too long). You're stabilizing length not weight. The Bofors barrels are not tack driver's but shoot well with the right load. I shoot AA2200 in one and AA2230 in the other both are spherical powders and best consistently ignited with magnum primers. H4198 shot decent but forget IMR 4198. I never shot anything but hollow point bullets but they are dismal when it comes to expansion. Bofors barrels made to about 1970 pre Garcia for sure. I might add one more thing, don't do any modifications such as bedding. They will drop the value of the gun like a rock!

I actually just loaded some more 222's to test seating depth of 50 Vmax, using 22.2 grains of LT-32, and had to use a Forster drop tube, and jiggle the cased before seating the bullets. My barrels is a Hart and not the original Bofors steel, so should not be a problem.

Standard 222 Lapua brass. 22.0 g of N133 fills to the bottom of the neck, below the base of the 52g bullet.
Anyone know why my 222 Lapua brass fills to the top of the brass ? I check with a balance scales and I know that I'm reading it right only been doing it for 50 years . 21 Gr of 133 is all I can load and I'm using a drop tube and it's full to the top .
My barrel is a new Hart 1:14 with only 120 rounds thru it .

Art I've been shooting 23.5gr of 133 with 52 SMK. Pour the powder slow.

get some scale check weights.

For a light sporter 222 hunting type rig, i have never found better for varmints than 50gr hornady sx/sierra blitz. Shot 20grs of 4198 in my 788 for over 20 years. A lot of dead critters. Hard to change. Great rifle
