Need more shoulder bump. Special shell holder?

The drill press idea is awesome! Thank you
Or a belt sander or Linisher... Just need to have a smooth surface and even the sharpening stone idea is sound, just not sure I would attempt it with a shell holder chucked up in a drill but rather just manually slide it back and forth.
I have even used a "Cutting Blade" in a 4" grinder and applied the object to be sanded down to the face of the disk... Against all rules and advice as there is a risk of breaking the blade with too much pressure on the surface but it will give a smoother surface than a regular grinding disk unless you can find a really fine one.
Belt sander or sanding disk has always been my "go to" for small amounts of material removal since I don't have a mill or surface grinder.

I had that problem once with my ForsterFL! I was bumping, but the expander was just a little too high and pulled the shoulder/neck back up a touch!! Pulled the stem, tried again, and got the bump! Put the stem back in and turned the stem down a turn and a half!! Problem solved!!!

Bill!!!
I understand!!!!……. I’m glad that worked for you!!!…… The Op is an accomplishment shooter/reloader!!!….. he immediately recognized the problem as he has had it happen before!…. He wasn’t asking how to fix the problem !!!….. he was asking if anyone made modified shell holders to fill his needs!!!…. Redding offers plus sizes!… which of course is the opposite of what he needs which he was also aware of!….. however to my knowledge no one makes minus shell holders!!!… I’m sure by now he has modified his shell holder or die!!!…. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Forster die I as well have had to readjust the stem!!!…..

Well, I ended up taking some material off the top of the shell holder by holding it to the face of a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder. I slowly turned the shell holder, attempting to make the removal equal and all sides. It seemed to have worked well! I have to say, I would like to see Redding come out with a minus shell holder set to complement their plus sizes. I would buy a couple sets.

I 100% agree with you however I personally see no use for the plus sizes, takes just a few moments to set your die up properly with the threads provided but if that’s too intimidating for some then shims or plus holders work. Glad you got yours setup buddy.

Making minus shell holders will make the phone ring. I have over the years pulled loose a few of the retaining lips inside the shell holder because of not enough lube and the cartridge case being towards the front thus not supported in the rear.
Yes I’ve seen this happen, I have a .300WM I milled a lot!… off the shell holder and about pulled it apart but it held. In most cases just a few thou is all that’s needed which won’t weaken it much at all.

Taking 0.010 to 0.020" from the top doesn't look like it would weaken most shell holders.
This is somebody's, maybe Hornady #12, NOT Shaved.

No it won’t weaken it enough to notice. But if you remove all the way down to where the bevel ends like what your picture shows and I had to for a .300wm once, there’s not much meat left and as Dave mentioned it can pull the lip right off then your screwed!

No comment on the adjustment other than: 14 threads per inch on the die body are not exactly ideal for trying to get a .001 (or less) adjustment in die height.

Thank you Wayne. I enjoyed your post!

Before doing anything, I’d probably just stick a feeler gauge under the brass to lift it up in the shell holder. With any luck that will tell you exactly how much it’s off, and may even give you all the correction needed.
This has worked for me in the past.

When i see

One Line- They are using a Co-Ax Reloading Press.

Never used one, but i have to wonder if the press may be the issue?
I used both my BB2 redding and Forster Coax. It didnt make any difference. I've seen this before myself and I'd agree with checking the die and chamber with a go gauge. Also measure the sized case with a comparator and compare to the go gauge. Compare the measurements to a SAAMI Drawing. think you'll find your answer

A CHUCK from a hand drill motor or bench drill press will be turn flatter than trying in on a flat surface of a belt sander by hand.
Like I said, well oiled sharping stone, run the shell holder down till you remove the amount of material you're after, being sure to MEASURE before and after!! They come out like they were factory machined. :) Whatever works best for YOU.
