CCI BR4 and 450 primer problems

G'day all its been a long time since I had to buy primers as I have heaps but decided to grab some 450 and br4 and was surprised at them piercing so measured the cup thickness and it came up at 0.016" instead of the supposed 0.025"

Just wondering if anyone has come across the same thing .
I figured I would post this for reference.

Was this with a proven load? Nothing changed but the primers? What is your load? I've shot 'a few' BR4's and 450's and have not experienced pierced primers.

Load is 24g of varget 75g eldm and 80g vld berger .
The primer is a new one cut in half with side cutter's and it measures the same as a decapped fired one .
And it is the wall of the primer.

Are you loading for a 223 Rem?

I don't load heavies for the 223 Rem, but Nosler shows 25.0 Varget max load for 55 grain bullets. Did you experience any hard bolt lift or ejector marks on the case head?

Just wondering if you are over the pressure limit for the cartridge.

Is the wall thinned when stamped?
What is the weight of your 450 primers?
Could a "Vendor" have swapped out 400's for 450's?
Flipping a flat at a time wouldn't take long to MAKE extra boxes of 450 primers :)

Hey Bill are you sure about the wall being the same as the base? The drawing shows that measurement "A" being taken on the base. I'm not a engineer and you may be right!
I did mechanical drawings for over 25 years!!! The chart states the WHOLE CUP THICHNESS SPEC WHICH IS BASE AND WALLS!!! The dimension of A is in the appropriate location under dimension rules of Drafting!!! It applies to all thickness of the cup!!

The manufacturing process doesn’t care about the drawing…
Really!!! Would you buy a rifle that was out of spec? The manufacturing process is designed around the specs!!! The punch and dies are tooled for that spec!!! I know, I was a process engineer in a world wide manufacturing company!!!!!!

Edit note: The shortage of LR primers is due to world wide conflicts! Our military holds to tight tolerances!! After all, they don't want service members lives put at stake from imperfection of primers!! Especially in auto weapons!! But, you could be right! Maybe reloaders are getting the 2nd rate products!!!
