I forgot about the 280! And the 6.5/06 seems popular. I briefly looked into the 375/06 AI , I had a 375 McGowen barrel but someone else wanted it to build a 375h&h and I put that money towards the 6mm/06 build.7mm-06, many years ahead of the .280 Rem. Also .22-06 (somewhat overbore), 6.5-06, .375-06 Ack. (need the Ack. version here for headspace) and the ever popular 8mm-06. And of course, all the Ackley versions. My favorite for LR sling shooting is the 6.5-06 Ackley, made with Lapua .30-06 brass.
A 22-06 sounds like a 220 Swift...?!I forgot about the 280! And the 6.5/06 seems popular. I briefly looked into the 375/06 AI , I had a 375 McGowen barrel but someone else wanted it to build a 375h&h and I put that money towards the 6mm/06 build.
I am already hearing it about the 6mm 06 being overbore and a barrel burner. I can’t imagine a 22/06!! Though I am curious .
No, the Swift is smaller in diameter and shorter. The Swift and the .22-250 Ackley Improved have about the same capacity, for example.A 22-06 sounds like a 220 Swift...?!
I do have a 264 Win mag but if I decide to move that along I would probably replace it with the 6.5/06.They are great and I love them all. But you are missing the best one, the 6.5-06.
That's true, but the point was, a .220 Swift is not a 6-06, which was the question Fire Doug raised. It's much closer in capacity to the .22-250 and about the same capacity as .22-250 AI.220 swift parent case 6mm Lee Navy a semi rimmed cartridge 47 grains of H2O, 22-250 parent case 250-3000 44 grains of H2O. Swift is longer
I believe so! I use 270 brass for the 6mm/066.5 06 Ackley but I start off with 270 Win brass. Does that count?
