22LR casing is stuck in bolt face of 2500X action

Really need some help. I was shooting my 2500x action rifle and after the shot the bolt wouldnt open. I took the barrel off and the trigger and it still wouldnt budge. Ive managed to get the bolt out far enough that I see the casing is stuck in the bolt face. Cant understand why the bolt will not come out. Any help would really be appreciated. Thanks.

I would contact Jerry Stiller, the action designer, directly for assistance. Screen name "stiller" on rimfireaccuracy.com. Alternately killoughshootingsports.com who now produce the action.

Are the extractors fully engaged around the case head and not sitting slight proud? If so, could be insufficient clearance to allow the bolt to slide through the raceway. I had a problem similar with a go-gauge that wouldn’t allow the extractors to fully seat on the rim. Similar problem as the bolt could not be retracted.

Looks like the extractors have a good grip on it.

If you have the bolt back far enough to see inside the action look and see if the bottom of the case is hitting the loading ramp. If the loading ramp is set to high you will have problems extracting the round. If the round stuck in there has been fired take a cleaning rod and run down the barrel from the muzzle end. Put some pressure on the bolt handle as if you were trying to open the bolt and tap the cleaning rod against the inside of the fired case. You should be able to dislodge the case from the chamber.

If the case stuck in there is hitting the loading ramp back out the little set screw that’s on the bottom of the action and tighten the bigger one back from it and that will lower the load ramp. If you need further assistance PM me.

Got the casing loose, closed the bolt and now the bolt will not come out. The bolt handle will lift up and down but the bolt will not come out.

Take a 22 cal Jag and file off the pointed end. Attach it to a cleaning rod insert it into the barrel and tap it with a hammer. It worked for me. Of course you will need a new Jag but keep the old one and you can use it for any caliber.

Just a suggestion, don't tamper with anything else until you consult Jerry or Killough Sports for suggestions. Even though you provide a pretty good description of your situation, no one can see exactly first hand what is going on there, even though there has been some great input from others. *Ounce of prevention* . Just my $.02.

While holding the bolt release and pulling the trigger, take a rubber mallet and lightly tap the bolt handle.
Don’t beat it out. If it comes out look closely at the extractors for damage. I would also back the action screws and trigger hanger screws off a little before doing this.

Could the trigger be keeping the bolt locked closed? Can the trigger be easly removed?

I know nothing about this action. Just a guess.

If I understood what Dan Killough told me on the phone a few months ago he no longer owns Killough Shooting Sports. It seems he sold that to Eley IIRC.
He said he owns Precision Quest and is in the same building as the Jerry Stiller.
AND YES, I know this has nothing to do with the OP's problem but may save him a phone call or two.
