using a small base die now with the petersonsSeems to be a common problem with Peterson brass. Use Lapua or small base die.

NormRedding small base die.
I’m pretty confident in saying that the donuts you are experiencing are not tied to using a small base die or not turning necks. Turning or reaming out the inside of the necks won’t fix the problem either. At least, not for very long. Best option is to have enough freebore to seat above the donut. If you can’t do that, then I personally would have the neck reamed to add the FB. Turning or reaming necks to get rid of donuts simply isn’t a good long term solution. IMO if you shoot a lot. It might be a solution for an infrequently shot hunting rifle.Norm
I know this is an old thread... However, my Lapua 284 Win bras is .5018 at the .200 line. I don't turn necks. However, when I have used a Redding SB die, I get doughnuts. Is that typical? an it be prevented by turning the necks?
Thanks,
Todd
