Very Cool, I wish I had that kind of skill and talent, I am good with metal, not wood. I wish I possessed both skills, Good Job!These are so cool. I especially love that stock with the turquoise inlay in the butt.
I built this about a year ago from a plank. I need to learn engraving so I can finish off the project. Slightly shorter range if only I could find the time to do some more stock work. I'd love to make myself something like a master sporter stock for my Tikka.

Yup, it has generated a little interest. I like seeing other guys work. It keeps me humble. There’s some real talent out there, tho I kinda cheer more for the first timers. My home duties have become more demanding, but I always have a project in the works.wowser- i remember when this thread started and now youre up to 92 pages- Impressive- and much good info contained in it. i learned alot— i need to look at some of those adjustable butt plates so i can make some and put some on some stocks. i will always have some kind of stock work going on. You can't start a new thread until this one hits 100 pages!Yup, it has generated a little interest. I like seeing other guys work. It keeps me humble. I’ve been thinking I should start a new thread and go thru the process, but keep out the comments and questions so it’s easier to follow.
The center maple is a little over 1/2” and the outside walnut is 1 3/8”. That gave me a 3 1/4” blank to start with.Josh , how thick are the outside walnut boards and the center board? Looks great.
Good for you Josh. When I quit back in 2001, I was on 3 packs a day. Best thing I ever did for myself.PS: Where’s @Nick Caprinolo ? Nick…….you out there? Did you notice the absence of ashtrays lately? I got tired of hearing about it so I QUIT!
Sorry Josh but I still smoke. I do quit from time to time, sometimes for months but then I start again. I have four more packs left from a carton I got last week and will probably quit again when they are gone. Tough around here because my wife also smokes and has no desire to quit. Been smoking since I was 12 and am 88 now. Old habits are hard to break. Hope you can continue with non smoking.PS: Where’s @Nick Caprinolo ? Nick…….you out there?
