Do it yourself Stock making thread

Hi! Glad you’re trying it. That epoxy will work. I’ve also used the slow cure stuff in the double syringes for small surface fills.
Titebond is good stuff. I use it all the time. Just don’t let your stock get above 220 degrees or it might soften the glues, as investigated earlier in this thread. ;)

I'm gearing up to take a stab at this.
I tried to search and came up with titebond III or some sort of epoxy, you guys that are gluing woods together does titebond work as well as anything else or what is the verdict there?

My wood has some small imperfections in it that I'm not sure yet will be visible once the stock is shaped, anyway I thought if there was I would fill it with black epoxy, is there a certain epoxy I should use or is this art and craft stuff from amazon just fine?

Tight Bond III works great for laminating wood. It is an exterior rated glue and has good gap filling properties. West Systems epoxy works good for laminating as well. You can find it on line or at a marine supply store like Jamestown Distributors, or West Marine if you have one near buy. I’ve used both in a couple of my stock experiments. The epoxy colored black when I laminated some carbon fiber cloth in between the wood laminations and straight Tight Bond III when I built a couple of stocks without the carbine fiber cloth.
Good luck, I’ve learned a lot in my couple of attempts.

That's a fabulous looking stock. I haven't been following along - do you have a build planned?
Have a new Bat M headed my way, so yes on a home for it. I have several shooting buddies needing new wood too.
Going to revise a few things on this one before kicking out 5 of these.
Have 3 other designs finished in CAD and ready as well.
The one above is so close to final but it’s still
Shootable wood.

Inletting a birch ply and sheoak laminate for a rem 700 sa. While another stock is getting glued up with carbon fibre stringer down the centre and coloured epoxy with micro beads
