FYI... USPS update. After a 2 week battle, persistence and good documentation paid off for me. I received an email stating I'm getting reimbursement for the money order fraud.

Since my OP is locked for some reason I wanted to update everyone and restore some hope in the USPS.

Thanks for everyone’s support and recommendations.

I am really happy you are getting your $$ back !!! Send postal money orders certified mail--if you do it is possible to request and get a refund just three days After the certified mail estimated delivery date--send it regular and fight fight fight--you will get the loot back but it may be three months--so now that you know protect yourselves and spend that whopping $3 extra for certified
My experience is that the Post office has sucked ever since the new Postmaster was installed--
But...they Pay the insurance claims --they refund MO's--it works Just try and get UPS to pay on a claim--just try I dare you .
UPS Freight screwed me on an engine I shipped --told me to pound sand--I looked up the regional managers name online --called the center pretended to be him and demanded they pay that claim that day--guess what? They paid--you have to be creative to out smart crooks

What were the things you did that checked all the boxes for a refund ? Other than persistence

MO was in priority mail tracking. I had receipts and copies of everything. I filed a missing mail report. I filed a form PS6041 MO inquiry. Got a copy of cashed MO from that inquiry. Filed report with Consumer affairs. Called USPIS and filed a report. Sent all documentation including a letter explaining chain of events and incident #’s to USPS accounting. Called USPIS again after all this and got case escalated. Within 3hrs I had email stating reimbursement approved and mailed to me within 15 days.

Quite literally the exact opposite experience I have. UPS Capital Claims pays on my claims diligently, 95% of the time and when I dispute a denied claim it is paid within a week and USPS says that a piece of an empty box delivered is a good delivery, no claim is valid.

I hope they deliver your payment by courier. I cringe every time I pay my bills and put them in the US mail for fear they will be lost or stolen.
I seem to have exceptionally bad service at my USPS location. One time I had to resolve an issue regarding a goofed up vacation hold with the Postmaster, or person in charge at the time. It seems that one of the counter people overheard the issue and blurted out "only in the *name of my city* USPS unit could that happen". That's when you are sure it is bad.

Dave,
Thanks for the tip on shipping money orders by certified mail. Worth the $3 for some piece of mind!
Will pass this on to my customers. Thanks bud.
