Lapua 6 br

Figure brass, bullets, powder, primers, and labor… pretty much a wash to buy here.

Could buy that, shoot it, and sell brass for 70%-80% of what you paid if not more.... basically free trigger time.

I think a good average what I've seen 6br brass sell NIB for is $200 (some more some less). That's $2 / piece.

That loaded ammo is only costing you another $0.60. You cant buy a primer, powder, and bullet for that. Much less factoring in time. Buy this, fireforming to your chamber without reloading time and using your components for cheap.

.90 for Varget
.10 primer
.50 good bullet
$1.50 total to load one

no free trigger time - but if i had resigned myself to paying 200 for 100 lapua 6br brass i think i would try a few boxes of the factory loads to see how they would do. listed velocity is pretty slow- anyway Im not paying 200/100 for lapua- Ive got a little left and more peterson. I probably should quit shooting the Lapua if things are gonna be this way.

Question for you guys who insist on Lapua...

1.) Why do you insist on Lapua?
2.) Have you tried Alpha/Peterson?
3.) Have you ever measured case capacity of Lapua vs others?
4.) If you're just stubborn, that's cool too, but I'm curious.

edit: I'm honestly just curious. Not trying to start a flame war.

If most of the competition boys shooting 6mm BR are shooting Lapua brass in matches, I have to think there is a reason.
i think that it's because for the longest time it was the only option and old habits die hard or the unwillingness to try something new.. just like a lot of folks use lapua brass in their 223 bolt guns.. i have had so much success with LC brass.. i was like.. why even bother..

Lapua holds pressure great and shoots very consistent without issues.
I have not but friends have
I have not but others have.
I witnessed a world record shot with Alpha brass, but other guys have trouble with Alpha, I don’t need trouble.
that's because they didn't have the two matched correctly (chamber and brass) or the brass really wasn't process correctly by the shooter.. i use alpha brass in a non alpha chamber.. i have no issues with it.. just gotta do your set up correctly.. if ya don't.. you'll run into trouble .. pretty simple really..

Yes, my understanding is that a special reamer is required.

The only problem us using Alpha BRA brass in a non Alpha chamber. Alpha 6BR fireforms up to BRA just fine

I agree totally that old habits can die hard. In the case of Lapua 6mm BR there hasn't been a need to change and many already have or had a stock pile of brass that holds up well through multiple reloading.

When it comes to shooting and competition, I believe changing can happens in a relatively short time. Everyone is looking for that magic combination and someone is always trying to find the "latest and greatest" component. If something new and great comes out, someone will try it and tell others and change will happen quickly.
If someone comes out with a new and better bullet that can prove itself, it won't be long before everyone wants that bullet. Well, that's what I see anyway.

Of course there are always those who can convince people they offer something better when enough fluff is added.
