Gold box 6 BR REM

See Corey's answer above. We did use the Remington head stamp for a short time in the mid 90s so I stand corrected on my previous post in this string. Will let you all know anything else I find out on this from LAPUA.

Got more information on this cartridge case this morning. Dimensionally the cartridge cases marked 6mmBR REMINGTON and 6mm BR NORMA produced by LAPUA are the same. So using the heavier target bullets should not be an issue. So lpreddicks observation is correct.
Again, my apologies for my first post in regards to this brass head stamp question.

I'm still using the Lapua cases stamped '6mm BR Rem' in my 6BR....got them before they were even available to the public in the the mid '90s. No primer pocket issues.

The early cases are the same quality as the ones marked 'Norma'.

I used the early non-Norma stamped cases on my first 30BR, as well.

Good shootin'. -Al

Thank you sir. I agree with AlNyhus that these tight primer pockets should last for many firings. Another interesting thing I noticed.. the flash hole is not .062, like Blue Box. It appears to be .059. A .057 pin barely goes thru. I read that Lapua made these with the smaller flash hole in the early 1990s, then changes over to .062. I found that my Whidden decapping assembly for my custom 6x45 FL bushing die has a .046 decapping pin and fits nicely in my Redding Type S FL bushing die. Does the smaller flash hole make much difference in performance? 20190220_165742.jpg

According to LAPUA there was no change to the spec for the flash hole diameter from the Remington to Norma head stamped cartridge cases. So what you may be seeing here is either spring back after the hole is punched or tool wear within a tolerance or both. There is a discussion as to what you do with the .060 flash holes. Do you ream them or leave them alone. Since most decapping pins are cut from wire stock that can vary in diameter resulting in the pin being pulled out of the decap stem ETC. Sinclair came up with the .0625 flash hole reamer to solve that issue. This led then back to the flash hole diameter issue. Personally I use the SINCLAIR flash hole reamer and have never noticed any issues with accuracy or with a decapping pin.
I don't know if any one has actually tested the flash hole theory. Maybe a bench rest shooter will chime in on this.

The primer flash hole is made with a 1.5mm punch and that leaves a flash hole of ~ .060. It has been widely believed that Lapua drills their flash holes, but that is not the case. Good shooting....James
