Weight system question

We all know about balancing a gun for it to shoot well, thus we have the weight systems currently available BUT what if (and it may have already been tried) having different weight butt plates to balance guns? Would be an easy swap if you went to a small/shorter barrel, would make it easy to add or reduce weight (a butt plate with additional weight shims you could add or subtract? Just a thought as I've only been shooting competitions since 2019. Has there ever been something like this? I know there are tons of different stocks but pick 8 or 10 of the most popular and go from there.
Thanks,

Weight system allows to add- change out for different barrel weights- or- need to make weight in a specific class…

1st ya gotta have a light stock-1lb-1.6lb stock & go from there… not to start with a 3lb stock…

Yes, I use the PMA system now but there are times I need more than the 8oz they provide, have you never run into that? I used the system Mike Ezell @gunsandgunsmithing told me about (copper/tungsten rod) also.
