Muzzle device for 6mm ARC are folks using the 30 cal ones

It seems that the only muzzle devices for the 6MM ARC are all 30 cal. Is that what's being used right now.? I am quite familiar with many of them.

Are you referring to suppressors specifically? I ream brakes to .020ish over bullet diameter and my tuners are not caliber specific, but some are. Muzzle device is a broad terminal guess is what I'm saying, as much as anything

From A2 FE to Beaney Coolies. Flash hiders to Muzzle brakes. LOL. Not a bad idea to ream a custom bullet diameter.
I would say as long as you have at least .020 clearance with whatever MD you use, you should be fine. That assumes proper machine work that insures the MD is dead nuz parallel with the bore though. I've seen some that were not well done.

That being said, I wonder how effective are brakes designed for a 223 reamed out to 6mm work to reduce with smaller ports and chambers. Original question is, are people using 30 cal brakes on 6mm arcs.

You can use a .30 brake on a 6mm. Won't hurt anything and you won't feel the difference in recoil but not sure why you can't find a 6mm brake if that is what you want. There are a ton of 6mm brakes out there.

Yes, this. Ime you can measure a lot that you won't feel. I think a bigger hole hurts brake effectiveness but not a lot and you may never actually feel the difference unless you're very familiar with the gun. Even then, very familiar with it braked etc.

Yes there are tons but thinking you can't use a 6.5mm or even .30 brake is just wrong. I will give this piece of advice, get a self timing brake as they are very easy to go on and off when needed and to time when installing.

I use the Area 419 Hellfire 6mm brake for my 6 ARC and 6 BRA but a larger 30 cal brake would work just fine.

Good advice. I see that the APA has brakes that can be customized. Not a problem. Everything up to now has been in the 223 0r 30 cal range even my 6.5 creeds worked well with various stock brakes. A bunch of us are F class IBS and Freedom 600 yard shooters. It got boring ringing the 5 inch steel plates at 600, so we got out our Ar 15's and find it challenging shooting 8 inch plates in the wind and Florida mirage. I have run 23/25 plates in good conditions with my 24 inch Criterion in 223 with 77 Gr SMK tipped, but that was in very calm condition. Everyone else is using 6MM and Grendel. so I tore down my Ar and going to 6 ARC. Asking questions?

Bought a Brake from APA. I got the Black and Decker and a rat tailed file to get it right.

You do not need to use anything on an APA brake to "get it right". It simply installs. Do not touch it with anything but an adjustable wrench to tighten the self adjusting nut.
