First Look at the Ingenuity Precision Powder System

I just loaded 20 with 33.50gr of RL15.5 and had one overthrow that was 33.58. .02 is one kernel of powder so it overthrowed 4 kernels once. It's like this with any powder I use in it the larger kernels make it look like it's alot but 4-8 kernels of power isn't anything. Don't get me wrong I'll probably get an ingenuity one day but there is nothing wrong with the V4 like some of you claim....

Well, when you have large numbers of folks with the same issue.
There probably is a common denominator for sure

How does one know if they were included in the first batch? ...... And when is the first batch goign to actually ship?

My guess is that if you ordered around the launch time. It's possible that most orders are in the first batch. That would be my guess. You can always email and ask.

I emailed him and was told around June for the first batch to ship. If I remember correctly he said orders before last month. He normally is Easy to deal with. I am guessing he gets it a bunch. Just put it on your site or Facebook and no one would email. Ok most people would not.

My ST is working just fine. So much so I have to keep reminding myself why I wanted a drop unit. If I was only running stick powder I'd probably just stay with it, but normally I run lots of ball powder and a drop system is the way to go for that as its design limits spillage. I can wait, no problem at all.

We are most likely looking at July for the first batch (orders before 3-1). This is why Paul took no deposits and made no hard fast promises. I do think that once this thing is out, it will be perfect more so than anything out there and not something that will be easily replaced (similar to a Prometheus, especially with the Sartorious as the A&D’s comm speed is the weak link for all systems). In the meantime I’m going to be nice to my supertrickler to keep it from misbehaving and acting crazy.

What model Sartorious will refresh and provide a controller a reading faster than 20 times a second?

Everyone says its a better scale for various reasons, but I cant ever find the specs to backup the claims.

Also, the controller that is being used would have to have the hardware, and the software to take advantage of any increase in refresh rate of the scale. We have no idea what the controller is capable of, and how efficient the code is.

As a consumer, I’d rather wait as long as it takes and receive a superior machine rather receive more of the same like the v4 or the ST.

From speaking to Paul, I’m confident that he won’t be releasing anything other than perfection.

The ingenuity trickler with the v3 in my opinion is the most accurate and effective combo currently offered out there. I certainly don’t mind waiting If this unit is better than that!

I'm on the waiting list for the Satorius/IP system, I was trying to find some more info on the Satorius BCE124-1S scale that Paul offers but couldn't find much except for some silly one grain of powder test, I'm using the AND120FX with IP trickler now and it's a great setup but I'm looking for a little more resolution, can you shed some more light on the advantages of the Satorius over the AND scale....any info would be appreciated.

I wish I could be more helpful but don’t have a lot to add. I know that with the ST (as a beta tester for the last software release) that a big factor for that platform is the comm speed. This is from asking for features or asking why you can’t do X or Y. The answer is always the speed of the platform. Speaking to Paul about the system and if the Sartorious is worth it (which to me it is) - seems to me that it is faster and more stable. Will it make a difference with his system, probably not, but he said it’s more the psychology of knowing you have the best components possible (I suppose the same applies to actions - is a $1400 action and worse than a $2200 one?). I think it’s a question for the man himself.

In our LRBR game every tiny detail matters and will show on the target so if I can eliminate even the smallest powder charge variation it will improve my score and group agg on the long run

And this is exactly why we spend what we do, and will continue to do so. In most cases the actual facts around a product or procedure are irrelevant. If it makes us feel like we are better, we likely will be. The trick is to somehow feel like you can win without spending all the extra dollars. Wish I could find that happy place.

Yeah thats why I dont ask anymore. Might send an email in late June since he was thinking July. I cant even imagine how good this is going to turn out given how much time it's taken after he had some amazing prototypes out there. Obviously he's also trying to solve for manufacturing a large amount - but I think this thing will be worth the wait.

I guarantee that he would save time every week if he posted a status update somewhere (here, FB, or SnipersHide) instead of having to field everyone's questions regarding updates, timelines, etc. He may be creating a great product, but the marketing and communications are going to kill him if he doesn't adopt a platform to get updates out, or hire some extra help to field the questions.

I remember a day when I was talking to my father, saying how the company was doing this or that, or should do this or that or could be doing these things better. He listened to me go on about it and when I was done he said: "If you're so smart, why aren't you running the company?"

His words rang true then and still do.

This project would be years in the making at a large company, so by comparison he's doing it in record time. We all just need to be patient. Those that bug him might think for a moment, would you want him working on your unit when someone interrupts him?

Sometimes good things come to those that wait...
