The Boss is going to get us for taking this off the tracks, but they were some good days. I was riding and the smoke didn't bother me at all. Wolfs Head in a real can was cheap. Of course now my Suburban has 200K miles and rarely takes any oil between changes. Maybe the good part of those days was I was 16 years old

I had a Honda dirt bike that i had to carry oil with me as it burnt more oil than gas. Had that motor apart a couple of times. Once for rings then a year later for timing change , should have done it when i done the rings, it cost me a exhaust valve as well.

I had one of those too, picked these used cars and drove them, fixed them and drove them into the ground, didn’t have problems with it, beautiful straight six with a ton of room around it to work on. Not a myriad of hoses, pollution devices and the like. (Did need to replace a valve cover gasket though). Those were the days my friends...

Berger bullets don't mind being chambered into the lands. That in itself does not make long seating in general an accuracy requirement.

BR shooters throw powder by volume. Nobody serious about ELR would think of doing that. BR likes ball powder. ELR powders are huge extruded grains. Powder by volume is not a general accuracy requirement.

Disclaimer… I’ve only been in the BR game 2-3yrs and FClass just a few months. I consider myself an ignorant rookie trying my best to learn all I can because I love this sport and the people that surround it. I’ve tried both methods with success but for 2 very different reasons IMO.

I’ve always had good success with Mr. Tony’s method until I bought an FClass 7mm barrel with over 3000 rounds on it. I had a very difficult time finding the lands consistently due to throat erosion with Mr Tony’s method. I tried Mr Erik’s method and was able to find the lands consistently and a seating depth tune that worked.

Both of these gentlemen are great contributors to our sport and a huge Thank You goes out to them for sharing their pleather of knowledge with us all so humbly.

Also Thanks to Mr Bart for displaying the great respect in his honest answers to us all that love this sport so much despite our differences and strong will.

Benchrest shooters tend not to weight powder, they dispense by volume.

To be able to do that and still have a consistent charge needs a ball powder, or a very short cut extruded that meters like a ball powder.

Finding the lands. Do whatever you do until you have a mark on the bullet. Does not matter how as long as it will repeat. Easy. Otherwise I tune much like Tony except I start with a square mark from the rifiling and back out as I go. I have often shot at the square mark because it shot zeros right out the gate. I use the tuner to stay small as the rounds mount. I use lots of neck tension with every thing but the 6 BRX. With that just so it holds the bullet so you can not pull it out with bare fingers. Speaking of finding the lands I hate the term jam. Jam is for my morning toast on my wife's homemade btead.

Better throw in a quart of coolant also. I was a Ceverolet Servic Manager during those days. Only thing worse was the wanna be diesel pickups.

That's just my observation. I'm sure I'm in the minority.

That's so common, and is a simple cognitive bias; I got a new toy, or process (sorting a different way, new measuring tool, trimming bullets, etc etc etc) Then you shoot a good match and think you can't live without it. You think it's the new thing. It might be, but probably isn't.

I think there are certain people that brag about psyching people out.... I've seen that video too.

Sir ; I think you missed my point , completely . BR is not "F" class , whether it's SR or what is classified as Mid-Range to F class shooters . I don't know how BR shooters load for 600 , but I do know most F shooters do "Jump" their bullets , and load very precisely weighing to the tenth of a grain , or less . So comparing "Load Practices" is not a compatible debate for these different disciplines . That's the point I was trying to make , without aligning to either side of the discussion .

And @HTSmith ; If you can't tell the difference , you must "push" a Chevy .

Actually, I disagree with your assessment “that most F class shooters jump their bullets”.

Pro or not, everyone is human, and more arrogant when younger.

Arrogant to believe that because they do something a certain way, others are plain wrong.

I've seen videos of pro shooters illustrating the way to do something, and the conclusion is incorrect because the assumptions are incorrect.

On a positive note, at least everyone that takes the time to make information available is contributing some knowledge - some more, some less, and every little bit helps everyone else.

Sure. That's true.

I could do a shooting video it would be really short. I would say something like learn to read the wind. The end.
