Garmin mounting to Neo-X

I know it has been done to the top post and you can get more creative and use the carry arm to offset the Garmin unit off to the side and lower so that it is easier to read in the sun. I’m curious of a few things:

1. Are the velocities reported the same on the rest as they are standing on its tripod off to the side?
2. Any issues with the Garmin unit coming loose and rotating when shooting?
3. And this one is a complete stretch, but has anyone seen the POI of groups change as a result of mounting the Garmin to the Neo-X? (I can’t possibly imagine the minuscule weight of the Garmin unit could possibly have any effect but I thought I’d ask.
4. I ordered the simple M12 to 1/4-20 adapter, but I also ordered the slick quick disconnect one that F class John posted about previously, yet to try either solution but I imagine the QD is likely better because you don’t have to mess around with consistent alignment from session to session. Opinions from you guys??

Thats what setup I use and it works great. The readings are the same and it has no way to effect the POA

Guys,

Here is what I ended up doing and it’s super simple and works great. I used the carry arm of the Neo-X and threaded a 1/4-20 standard mounting hole in the “end cap” piece of the carry handle. My only concern is it may be too close to the ground to give reliable results, but I’ll be able to test this upcoming Saturday or Sunday. I like this because it makes it virtually impossible to ever leave the Garmin behind (which is a real concern since it’s smaller than a tin of chew). If this method proves to be too low, I plan to use the same carry arm set up just mounting it to the right main guide post. Both locations fall within the 5-15” to the side and 5-15” behind the muzzle. Pictures in next post because my phone is giving my problems attaching them to this post.

In Post #45 I described and illustrated what I did - simple.

Yep, simple assuming you own a lathe, machining center, or 3D Printer…..none of which I do. I can’t think of a simpler solution than drilling a 13/64” hole and tapping it with a 1/4-20 tap.
