New Production Remington 700

[6.5 forever]

As someone who may be in the market in the not too distant future, who would you ( or anyone else with experience ) feel makes the best factory gun based on the 700 action? I realize that most likely if I get a response, it`ll be from fans of a given brand rather than any sort of objective side by side brand comparisons, although those are the most useful IMHO. That`s okay, though, at this stage of my selection process. Thanks.

I use custom actions only now. But the last factory rifle I bought was a Tikka and I was very happy with it. I was not happy with my last Remington.

+1 on the Tikka. The best out of the box factory rifle. Bergara is an improvement on the Rem platform, so to speak.

Off the shelf, manufactured gun ( Tikka, Savage, Remington, Bergara, etc., etc, etc ) as opposed to a more custom, individually bought component, put-together- yourself gun.

I like my bergara, nice smooth bolt and plenty accurate in 223, has a nice trigger too but that can be upgraded with many options. It is an almost 700 clone

I have worked on 3 dozen of the latest production RAR prefix Rem 700s. They had Timney made triggers. I prefer American made when ever it is available and if I was buying a factory rifle it would be a Remington.

I agree with everyone else that TIKKA is also a FANTASTIC little rifle as well.

Mine is a b14 ridge, I don't think they make a 223 in the HMR, and I wanted a 223 to replicate my silhouette rifle for shorter distance practice

I’ve been thinking of buying a new Remington 700 1:8 twist .243 Win for a little while now. I know where a couple SPS Stainless are with the 1:8 twist, but the non-adjustable trigger kind of worries me.

Just think of a replacement trigger as a upgrade. Money well spent!

Can't think of a better "Rem" clone ; than a Kelby Panda . And I'll leave it right there . Argue away .

If you get a newer Rem, most folks will change the trigger. The ones that come on the new rifles from Timney are not very nice and do demand a better trigger.
