Question about Remington 700 trigger.

Hello. I bought a used Remington 700 off of gunbroker.com and it arrived today. I am trying to figure out if the trigger on it is a factory Remington trigger or if it is some kind of an aftermarket job. I tore it down and was giving it a good inspection and cleaning and the trigger has no markings on it other than a W stamped on the bottom front of the left housing plate just above the bolt release button. I just assumed that it was factory. However, it feels way to good to be a Remington factory trigger. I have several 700s in the safe, but they all have Timney triggers so I don't have a factory Remington trigger to compare. I do know that it is not a Timney though. Ther rifle came with a HS stock and TPS scope rings which are near $100 alone, so that makes me think that the last owner may have been inclined to spend on a trigger as well. You guys let me know what to look for. Thanks.

Ty: I have three original Remington 700 triggers laying right here beside the computer. One has no markings what-so-ever. One has the "W" you speak of , left side, bottom, directly above the bolt release lever. The third has the number 15 at that same location. Must be related to year of production (?). If the original trigger was tuned by someone qualified ( I use Neil Jones for my Rem. 700 triggers) it may very well feel match quality. Are you able to accurately weigh it? As ollie said, a picture would help & I could compare it with my Remington triggers.

Hey, thanks for the info. I found some pictures on the internet and I am 99% sure it is a factory trigger. Whom ever tuned on it did a fantastic job as far as I can tell. I believe I hit the jackpot on this gunbroker deal. I can't accurately weigh it right now. I will have to do some hunting for the appropriate tools. Put away somewhere I assume. Thank you guys for the response.

A Remington 700 trigger can be tuned up by a lot of qualified people. Neil Jones takes them down to a minimum 1# to 1 1/4#, and they are match quality. Just keep it clean (flush with lighter fluid once on a while), and dry, do not apply any type of lube. They don't compare with my Jewells, but they don't cost as much either.
