New Production Remington 700

According to Remington Firearms website all newly manufactured Remington 700’s will be equipped with Timney triggers. Has anyone recently took ownership of a R700 that came with a Timney trigger from the factory? More specifically I’ve been trying to find what they have listed on there website as the M700 Long Range in 308 Win, suppose to have 26”, 1:10 twist threaded barrel with Timney trigger but I can’t find one anywhere equipped as stated on the website. Anyone having any luck finding these supposedly new and improved M700’s?

I agree, the Timney trigger doesn’t excite me much either. Supposedly since changing ownership they have a new commitment to quality and that’s what interesting to me. I own quite a few custom rifles but lately I’ve had an urge to buy a factory Remington 700 just to see what it’s capable of. The problem is that I can’t find the particular model I’m looking for. It’s almost like they don’t exist even though they are shown on the Remarms website.

Not the best trigger at all. I would much rather pay an extra $100 bucks for a 700 with a 510 trigger installed rather than what they came up with. The HS Precision stock is a nice upgrade over the Bell & Carlson though in my opinion. I have always liked that model of stock. Very comfortable shooting from a bench or prone. Most of my hunting rifles have that same stock on them.

I've handled a dozen-ish new production 700's. Honestly, the XMark Pro trigger was better than the Tim-ington one the new one. But I certainly understand why they did this.

A bigger issue is that nothing has been done to address the bolt tube length issue and the zero primary extraction...none of them had any primary mechanical camming. On all of them, the bolt effort to cock seemed fairly stiff. It's possible (probable?) that they picked up the spring pressure as a way of assisting extraction....the bolts seemed pretty snappy coming off the ramps.

I have departure from the Remington Family about 15 years ago. The once great 700 has turned into a "loss prevention" rifle designed by lawyers. First there was that crazy contorted firing spring with a key lock on the bolt shroud, then they "redesigned" the old very good trigger system to something awful, and there always was the inferior extractor system. I learned to adjust to the long throats and "Tupperware" stocks, the latter at the cost of either pillar bedding or stock replacement.

I have joined the Tikka Family. Everyone I have owned thus far is superior in all respects - OUT OF THE BOX! While my gun buying days are probably over, if I need a new rifle, I am going Tikka until the lawyers take them over too.

Im still not understanding why they didn't change the bolt to have a threaded handle. At this point the Bergara is a much better buy if you want a 700 action or go with the tikka, I have both and both are great

When 700 actions were $300 on Budsguns, that was a good deal. With the overwhelming selection of REM 700 footprint budget actions on the market, why bother?

Mack Bros
Kauger arms
Origin
Aero Solus
Arc Nucleus

Off the top of my head.

Why bother? All of these actions are fully upgraded with basically all of the tricks.

I bought a new r700 in December, 20" 8 twist 243, xmark trigger. 489$ price matched at Sportsmans Warehouse. No extraction problems in use, and I like the trigger for what I'm doing. I swapped it into a "junk" O.E. sps varmint stock I had in the closet. Shoots consistently under moa with a 100gr spbt. Fun handy rifle, no regrets.

I would have a hard time ordering one online that you can't check out before money is exchanged.

I agree, I’ve noticed that certain rifles listed on Remarms website might advertise them as being equipped with let’s say a 1:10 twist threaded barrel but when you find one online or in the store it may be a 1:12 twist and not be threaded.

There are still “new” Remington rifles being sold but they are “old stock” inventory, not the new production models with the Timney trigger, side bolt release, etc.
With a a price of $1500-2000 that I’ve heard about, Urbanrifleman’s point is accurate.
Me? I buy Tikkas. They have had “Remington’s upgrades” features for years.

I have an R700 that I bought at Cabela's on sale for about $400 give or take 10-12 years or so. It shoots really well, even when it wore the Tupperware stock. It's in a Bravo stock now with a TT trigger but still has the OEM barrel and still shoots well enough every time I think of screwing on a new barrel I talk myself out of it. But speaking of the new RemArms 700's, if you really think about it, they aren't really being marketed to those of us willing to pony up the cash for custom actions, barrels & chassis.

Remington opened the door and now better options have entered the market.
As someone who may be in the market in the not too distant future, who would you ( or anyone else with experience ) feel makes the best factory gun based on the 700 action? I realize that most likely if I get a response, it`ll be from fans of a given brand rather than any sort of objective side by side brand comparisons, although those are the most useful IMHO. That`s okay, though, at this stage of my selection process. Thanks.
