2024 Southwest Nationals Sponsors and Results

Maybe at your local club - it's never been an actual class in the NRA rules.
Although it started out on a provisional basis, I thought it had been "official" for a couple years now. In fairness however, National Records are not yet allowed/recorded, so that may just be my perception and not "official". Its full title is "NRA Midrange (Prone) Tactical Rifle (AR)". So it's designated as a midrange event only, not long range, and characterized in the Highpower Rules as effectively being an additional rifle type within Highpower shooting. It would have been appropriate to include this class into the SW Nationals MR event. It has caught on well in some places, not so well in others.

From the 2023 Highpower Rulebook:

This new style of competition is designed to be more “tactical” in spirit and for that reason equipment normally found in other types of High PowerRifle Competition such as Match Rifle, Palma Rifle and F-Class Rifle will not be permitted. In order to understand the spirit of this new sport one might think of this sport as “prone Service Rifle with a bipod and a scope”. This IS NOT designed as another version of F-Class competition.

If that's what he's referring to, then he should have clarified beyond just 'tactical'. Lots of clubs have a 'tacticool' class to pander to the PRS/NRL crowd.

No records, no long range, no place at a major national level Registered tournament.
I wasn't advocating for or against its inclusion, merely pointing out that in fact it IS officially recognized by the NRA, which you stated wasn't the case. @kzin described it correctly and you knew exactly what he was referring to. Your "opinion" on whether it should be included at National level matches was already obvious, but that's not your call.

What I thought he was referring to was actual 'tactical' class, which any number of clubs have, but no official rules exist for. Never occurred to me that he'd think MR-ART would be present at a high level event like the SWN. But good try at presuming you know 'exactly' what I was thinking.
