I just switched bbls on my 6-47L. Had it chambered a couple years ago and ran 100 rounds through back then to FF brass and break in. No load development. 1/4 to 1/3 inch groups. I took it off and ran my old tube a while longer. Put the new tube on this winter and was struggling with groups during load development. 1/2 to 1 1/2 inch 3 shot groups @100. YUCK Figured it COULD be me....out of the game for a year and all. Screwed action to a BR stock and went out with 75 rounds sunday. Pure unhappyness. Couldn't hold zero. Tried shooting my 300 to 1000 yard steel and all over the place. I came back to the hundred yard line and off by 2 inches and 2 inch group. Pulled the suppressor and the next two shoots were 6 moa
. Back home I went through the gun again......action screws, scope rings, bases, all good. I replaced the scope and, since it had 75ish rounds through it, I cleaned it. Went out and shot a 1/4 MOA 5 shot group at 100 with the new scope without the suppressor..
Now, I know to only fix one thing at a time, and I did 2, replaced scope and cleaned. Would a dirty gun turn a 1/4 MOA gun to a 6 moa gun? Should I go out and shoot the original scope again with the tube clean, or just send the scope to NF? We are in what looks to be an extended warm strech and the range is pure mud now.
Thanks,
Tod
