Southerners on Ice and TN Snowfall

Woke up to 3 inches accumulation with another 3 to 4 expected. Reminds me of winter when I was a kid! Radar vs real world pics included!

I'm convinced they hand out stupid pills anytime we get ice here in Texas. I'm pretty sure some people get in the line over and over.
I had to go across town and service all my heaters at the shop this morning. Freezing temperatures, water-cooled saws, and waterjets dont play well together.
Anyway. In spite of how little ice and snow that we have so far, people are still winding up in ditches and/or tearing there front ends all to hell. Absolutely amazing.

It's not just Texas. I live in North West Missouri and every year the first snow or 2 is always a disaster on the roadways. For that matter, people around here can't even remember how to drive in the rain apparently. I'm no longer surprised. I expect it and plan accordingly.

Well...living in a college town doesn't help.
When we had that crazy snow a couple of years back my wife and I went to the shop(heater duty). We were taking our sweet time easing along in 4 high in my F350 4 wheel drive. Some youngster blew by in his jacked up short wheel based 4 wheel drive like he was going to a fire.
My wife got on my butt when we came by him a mile or 2 down the road and he was in a ditch.
All I did was roll the window down and smiled and waved. She says I am a hard ass. :)

This morning on Cumberland Plateau, still coming down. Dread the negative temps tomorrow night, hope they missed that forecast... camper is a toasty 68 so far;)

Years ago I was on a job just south of Charlotte NC. It started snowing, not light snow. I pushed the customer to try an move them along as I had about 100 miles to drive in it.

Anyway, got on the interstate and was moving every bit of 20 miles an hour. Ditch had cars to the left cars to the right. Saw a couple go into it. Moved about 20 miles or so about the speed had gotten to about 40. Got about 20 miles from home and there wasn’t a car on the road. I drove in the middle rolling about 65, got close to my mothers house which was 10 miles closer to mine. She was working as a nurse and wasn’t home.

I decided to swing through a subway gas station and get a sandwich. Got to my mothers house, stepped out of truck, heard a transformer blow. The lights went out. Welp, guess I’ll go on home…

Got back on the interstate and took my exit. Wasn’t any tracks on the road once I cleared the intersection. Put it in the middle and rolled through about 3 ish inches on the roadway to the house. Good fortune, I had power.

We live in central Orygun on the high desert and have had the unwanted influx of those dreaded Kalifornian's coming here with their fancy cars and SUV's. It snows here, and it gets cold here, like -12 the other night and 18" of snow. Over decades it's become sort of morbid entertainment seeing these people driving like they're still in sunny CA, and as usual, end up in the ditch, into oncoming traffic, and going nowhere trying to go up hills with street tires.

The real bummer is we must share the road with these fools, avoid them coming into the oncoming lane, not having the proper snow tires or even the slightest inclination to learn about driving and even living here. The old time plumbers make a fortune fixing their burst water pipes, the body shops thrive fixing their (and our) crashed cars.

Feeble wish, but we wish they'd all just stay put in the state they voted into oblivion.
Rant over.

I just had a post taken down because it was not 'gun-related'. It described an interview Tucker Carlson did with a Bert Weinstein, who explained how the covid 19 jab caused heart disease and cancer, and death. So tell me, how is this thread 'gun-related', and why is IT not taken down? As I recall, during the plandemic, there were several threads here if you actually advocated FOR the jab. HMMM? Oh, I know. It's too cold to shoot in some parts of the country!!
I'm sure this one won't last long either.
