Was going to go to Drumheller grocery shopping Mon AM. Let dog out, he was back PDQ, checked temps, meh, Tues will warm up nicely. Been -10 to -15F for 4-5 days, had snowed 4-5 days earlier, I hadn't cleaned yard sidewalks, didn't need to go out anywhere. Warmed up Tues, started to melt, go clean yard up, 12-14" drift across frt walkway. Go to town (23KM one way) about 2-2;30ish, still really nice out. Came home 4;45ish, wind had built up while in town 30-50mph. Get to top of valley hill northbound, drifted in NB lane, black ice, blowing snow all the way home. Have to turn west 5km from home, damned near a whiteout in daylight. Come Wed noon, nice out again, dig the sidewalk out again, another 14" drift. By 8;00pm Tues nite, wouldn't know I'd touched it 8 hrs earlier. Hwy east to Hanna was closed so they could plow the drifts and clear the stuck vehicles, done by 9-10;00AM.
Just another day on the northern prairie.
